Description: Our establishment (wi-fi free) is an italian Gastronomic Restaurant & Pizzeria. In september 2012 Italian Chamber of Commerce awarded our restaurant as the only "real italian restaurant" in Aix en Provence. Everything is home made by expert real italian cookers. We have many choices for all kind of tastes. Pasta, pizza, homemade fried food, seafood, desserts: so much know how behind...We fluently speak italian, french & english. You will keep an excellent memory of our dinner!

“Family warmth and Real Italian”
Reviewed November 18, 2013 via mobile

I found this wonderful little restaurant not thru TripAdvisor but by wandering around Aix on a rainy morning. I liked what I saw and booked a table by phone in English. Booking is advised because there are only 40 places.
Everything here is fresh and properly prepared. I didn't have their famous pizza, but grilled vegetables, risotto Milanese, and escalope de porc avec cêpes. A comfort dinner. Sandro, the host/owner is shy, modest, but friendly. You will like it here!

My staff and I we are really proud of having let you such a good memory above all because it's been your first time! I understood that you are from Australia but I was not aware that you use to prepare your own lasagnes at home. This make them feel a double satisfaction because we got a positive feedback from someone who use to take time for cooking at home. Nice to hear that even australians are keen on italian kitchen!! If you wish to be back I strongly advice to taste our pizza, a real italian one! Best regards, Sandro

“Awful”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

If you're looking for good Italian food, don't go here! We stumbled upon this restaurant and were extremely disappointed. The spinach lasagna was dry and tasted like boxed frozen spinach and the ravioli were hard and dry as well. We didn't even finish our meals.

The location was charming and the staff welcoming, but the food was subpar!

Notice to travellers: this review has not been written by someone who ate in our restaurant; it has certainly been put by someone working for a competitor restaurant (as unfortunately it happens more and more...). Our raviolis and lasagnes are completely homemade. We monthly receive thousands of customers coming from all over the world and these specialities are particularly appreciated as excellent dishes! Don't you believe it? Come discovering…Sandro GROSSI

“Genuine italian food served in a warm and friendly atmosphere!”
Reviewed October 6, 2013 via mobile

It's been my first visit to Dal Gladiatore and, honestly, looking at TA reviews, I had great expectations... ! When my family and I stumbled in without reservation we received a friendly and warm welcome, tasty bread appetisers appeared within a few minutes of our arrival. We ordered 3 starters (burrata, grilled legumes and the friture mixte), all excellent, amazing flavours, we all really enjoyed it. We followed with ravioli filled with porcini and spaghetti amatriciana (al dente) both divine!! …There's even been a main course with saltimbocca: perfectly seasoned and totally delicious.
We then shared tiramisu, cannoli and zoccolette (very original), again all very good.
The owner Sandro is a very friendly and gracious host and made us all feel most welcome.
Needless to say we will be returning very soon.

We feel honoured of having let you such a good memory. If you'll stay in the region for a while don't hesitate to come again! Here you have friends...king regards, Sandro

“Lovely place and staff”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

We stumbled on this place looking to get away from the main street touristic restaurants. The food reminded us of our visit in Toscana , the staff were wonderful and most important... the espresso was actually good (unlike almost all of the places we tried in France).
