“Grand cathedral”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013

We really enjoyed this cathedral and went on a Sunday to a service. It is always great to go when a service is on as it really adds atmosphere, with singing, the organ and the service, pour only problem was we didn't understand a lot, but that is ok. Definitely worthy is it!

Being from the states, we just don't have building like these in the south! Went on a Sunday during Mass and it was very lovely. Beautiful artwork and beautiful ceilings! Very old world inside and out!

“Worth a look”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2013

We visited LOTS of churches and cathedrals on this trip, but they're a big part of history and eventually you begin seeing the connections between them in similar architectural styles and designs.

“A bizarre mixture of architectural styles”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2012

As churchs go St. Saveur is about average. It has two fairly short and wide naves built at different times with very different architectural styles - it is like two churchs side by side. As we entered, we stumbled into a guided tour of the cloisters. The tour was conducted in both French and heavily accented English by a young woman who was very knowledgable about the cloisters and the church. She explained a bit about the history of the church and the cloisters and described the biblical scenes carved into the capitols of the surrounding columns. The knowledge and enthusiasm of the guide really made our visit to the church come alive.
The guide is paid through the free will offering of those taking the tour so be generous.
As we left the church, there was a wedding party and guests entering. Witnessing their entry to the church made our vist all the more memorable - one of the advantages of visiting on a Saturday.
