Wow Pierre and his chef (yes just a 2 man team!) have nailed it with and intimate and cozy setting matched to a fantastic French Provençal menu. Pierre is such a knowledgable and lovely young host who speaks perfect English and will explain everything on the menu. It changes monthly and we were lucky enough to visit twice and on a change of menu. Just as good! Very nice local wines! L'Alcove is tucked up the back away from any tourist place and is good value for money. Can't wait to visit again!!!

We had the set menu here and were blown away by the quality and presentation of the food. Every single course was delicious and we could not help but polish off each dish. This was truly a memorable experience. The setting is beautiful too, it looks like a cave, pretty romantic. We would definitely return if in the area again.

Went to l'Alcove for the first time tonight having read the reviews and had precisely the same experience described. Small but varied menu delivering fantastic fresh food, beautifully cooked. Helpfully guided through the great wine list for a winning combination. €110 for great 3 course meal, good bottle of plonk and couple of aperitifs, topped off with excellent friendly service = very good value in my books! Highly recommended.

Very good menu, especially the pea and mint soup which was excellent. Very friendly service. There were only two negative points to my mind: we sat outside (at lunch) and there was a marked smell of sewers the whole time, which was quite off-putting. I don't think it had anything to do with the restaurant, but it wasn't good. The other was that the men (2 out of 5) were offered a complimentary digestif, but not the women... We were offered a sunflower instead, but I'd rather have had the choice... If I were to go again, I'd probably sit inside unless I was sure the smell had gone. Otherwise, I would definitely recommend it.

Very good food. Limited menu is what I like; the chef can then concentrate on freshness of produce.
The only negative comment is the lack of service, even though it is friendly & enthusiastic, compered to the overall cost. The poor guy has to run up & down the stairs all the time, but did offer me a digestif (his Uncle's homemade!)
