“I enjoyed my stay”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

I found it to be clean, and the front desk is so helpful and friendly. The bus is close which made it easy to go into town and get to the train station. Really yummy lattes. Its nice to have wifi in the rooms. Although the rooms were small it worked for what I needed. Leo at the front desk is the best!!!!

We stayed here one night after arriving at Marignane airport. The room was a bit small for two Americans and it faced the traffic. But, all in all we enjoyed the stopover.
The high spot was the food in the restaurant. I only wish that the food at the best-eastern or the holiday-out in Blythe, Bakersfield or Barstow was half as good. Oh, by the way the local wine was ok too.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the renovated rooms off the freeway for a quieter stay.

We only stayed as stopover from Nice to Barcelona. Checkin was easy, staff spoke ok English. Room was typical ibis with the round bathroom which we like as we find it spacious. Bed was very comfortable. Parking is onsite and free. Wifi is everywhere and free but we struggled to keep connection in a room far from reception (not an issue as we really only slept here).

Good enough if you don't plan to spend lots of time at the hotel. We stayed in 'new' rooms which looked considerable larger than older rooms (peeked through the door when housekeeper was in older room).
The restaurant menu was uninteresting, uninspired and food only average quality. The supper buffet was pathetic. The breakfast buffet was simple, standard and no complaints.

This hotel is good value for money. It is located at the edge of this wonderful but very traffic congested city, it is easy to reach by car, free parking and just one minute walk from the nr. 3 bus stop. Buses run every 15 minutes and get you to the heart of the city after a short ride. Ticket sold by driver for just 1Euro. Hotel is a good base to discover the wonders of Aix without the driving and parking hazzle in town.

Dorm like rooms, not a lot of space, but somehow it works out. Very little space between the end of the bed and wall, but the bed was reasonably comfy. The walls were paper thin, you could hear conversation, and hair dryers in the morning, but with a decent neighbor it was not bad. We stayed 2 nights September 29 & 30 on Saturday & Sunday, the more discounted days. With 2 breakfast's buffets for 2 it was 150 Euro total. Breakfast for 9 Euro each was excellent considering there were no eggs. Internet was free and fine after a problem getting it started. The staff was very helpful and kind. Towels were at a minimum but he bathroom was functionally sound. Not having a car meant the difference in an excellent rating for value, versus a very good rating. Its a great place for the money if you are not hung up on the size of the room.

The only minus here is if you do not have a car, you cannot see much in Aix. However you can get a bus or train to Avignon or Marseille for a reasonable fare. The bus is a 2 minute walk out he gate located on the left. It comes every 15 minutes or so, except every hour on Sunday, not sure about Saturday. This is the last stop on the route, so they seem to rest there for awhile before taking off again, giving you more time to catch it. Take the bus #3 to La Mayanelle, get off at center of town at rotonde Victor Hugo, located 100 feet below the Carousel. When you come back, go across the street and take the bus # 3 to Val De L'Arc which is the stop by the Ibis Hotel. This is important to make sure you get the right # 3 bus, or like we did the first time, took the La Mayanelle to go home, and ended up in the dark at the opposite end of town, fortunately the driver let us stay on and eventually got us back to Val De L'Arc. The fee is 1 Euro per person, it takes about 15 minutes to get to the center of town (rotonde Victor Hugo).

When we got off the TGV Train in Aix en Provence, we took the blue bus # 40, it says to Aix, TGV, and Aeroport. It cost 7.6 Euro for 2 people, and got us to Aix in about 20 minutes. From there we did not know how to get to Ibis, so we took a taxi for 13 more Euro. Leaving Aix we learned to walk a few blocks after getting of at Victor Hugo, getting to the bus station, and taking the #40 bus, again back to the TGV train station, and ultimately back to CDG Paris airport.

Room Tip: take the higher floor away from the highway
