We stayed for a couple of nights. Room was very comfortable and warm (middle of Jan), spacious bathroom with awesome shower, plenty of room for two large suitcases. Easy walk to the main boulevard, all the main museums and markets. Only a block from the main train station (not the TGV station). Staff were very helpful. We went with the express breakfast which was fine.

Thank goodness for the Hotel Cézanne, which was such a wonderful place that it basically saved our impression of Aix. The city is beautiful but its reputation as a posh and aloof place seems well-earned. Not so for the friendly staff at Cézanne. From our arrival, they were nothing but kind, pleasant, and helpful - truly above and beyond my expectations for any hotel, let alone a French hotel.

The location is perfect - walkable to anywhere in central Aix and even places further away (we walked to Maison Fouques to tour their santon workshop). The rooms are comfy and pleasant - ours was on the street and it was perfectly quiet. We loved the "honesty bar" where you can pour yourself a drink and charge it to your room whenever you want. Breakfast was FANTASTIC and well worth whatever they want to charge. Seriously, I don't understand people complaining about the cost. This was one of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever had. The little gym in the courtyard in back was great for a morning workout.

But really the service is what blew us away. Praxède welcomed us warmly and happily, with lots of tips and ideas. Lilia absolutely made our morning with her service and friendly conversation at breakfast. And others whose names I did not get were equally helpful and charming, including the nice guy who arranged our dinner reservation at a restaurant that ended up turning away lots of other hopeful diners. I can't say enough about how much the hotel staff made us feel welcome and happy. If you're going to be in Aix, I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

PS the construction on the street is not the hotel's fault and the entire city is under construction right now, so don't let that dissuade you. It wasn't noisy, just had to navigate around it.

Excellent service, amazing room. It was a special anniversary for our family and we were upgraded to the larger great room. Location is good, very close to the bus station from/to airport and downtown. Room's design and other areas are very charm. We definitely recommend the hotel.

My arrival from Avignon was complicated by a number of misteps which are irrelevant to this review;suffice it to say that the TGV station and regional bus station are nowhere near the hotel, while the regional train station is half a blocl away. The considerable stress form the trip dissipated immediately--the young man at the front desk was very helpful and the amenities at the hotel were excellent. The honor bar was well stocked and the patio area was very pleasant. The room was large nicely decorated with a great bath and amenities. Loved Aix and the Picasso exhibit at the museum so much that I didn't make it to Cezanne's mountain, which was the purpose of the trip. Guess I'll have to go back. .

Room tip: Room fronted on the street, but was still quiet
