When we first arrived we were surprised by how small the room was and particularly the bathroom however after a few days it didn't really matter as the service was always the same and always good. The breakfast was particularly noteworthy; truffle or smoked salmon omelettes, delicious creamy yoghurt, fruit and muesli trifle and all of the other usual items. It would be nicer if it was a block closer to town but overall very good.

My only question as with nearly every place I have stayed in France is why is there no tea and coffee available in our rooms? There was an excellent coffee machine right outside our door but I would love to have had a cup of tea in the morning...

Oh and I nearly forgot to add that the free mini bar is a nice service; free water, juice, soft drink replenished each day!!

Stayed here for 2 nights on a first trip to aix. If you are looking to travel to the south, I would give a better recommendation to nice, Montpellier or Avignon -- the tgv station is a 20 minute bus ride outside town and it is a pain to get into the center of aix. In addition i wouldn't recommend aix during the winter, as all of the beautiful trees are cut back and it is just not that charming.

Pros:
Very quiet
Very nice little business center with computers and printers set up
Clean
Friendly staff
Coffee machines on every floor
Free drinks in minibar
Free reliable wifi

Cons:
On the pricey side for the location
Breakfast is 20 euro

My wife and I did some research and decided that Hotel Cezanne had the combination of location, good reviews and price that we liked. We made a great decision. The staff could not have been more helpful. The morning breakfast was cooked to perfection by their chef/cook who made omelets to order as part of the breakfast buffet. I had two one egg omelets today (mushroom and truffle). Both were delicious, but my wife stuck with the omelet special---goat cheese and honey. And, oh yes, free champagne at breakfast.

The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The bathroom had two compartments (toilet in one and a shower/wash basin in the other. Drinks are all complementary (sorry soft drinks and waters only). A Nespresso machine is located on every floor so you can get wonderful coffee whenever you'd like.

The private parking garage for the hotel is only about 50 yards away. The town and its shops/restaurants are very nearby (about two blocks to the main street. We will definitely stay at the Hotel Cezanne the next time in Aix-en-Provence.

The only black spot in an otherwise wonderful trip to France last year was the Hotel Cezanne in Aix. My wife, who had booked our room for three people months before our trip, called the morning we were to arrive to confirm our reservations. Even though she told them that we would arrive late in the day, they assured us it was no problem. Our room, however, was given away. With no where else to go the three of us had to share a queen-size bed in an incredibly small room. The next night we found a room at Hotel Roi René that was larger, cleaner, and offered a wonderful pool in the courtyard. BTW: Nearly everyone we met in France was gracious and cordial, except of course at Hotel Cezanne.

Room Tip: One at another hotel.

it's quite ok, but rooms are too small to be considered a 4star hotel and also restaurant menu is limited to only pasta !! Overall service is good and it's near to downtown, but as i mentioned it's too expensive for the quality they're offering.

We stayed at Hotel Cezanne for the first 5 nights of a two-week trip to the south of France. The room was very spacious (one br suite) and was filled with whimsical decor and furnishings. The details were really quite charming, most notably the artistic, back-lit wall in the bedroom. There is a small elevator when you need to travel with large bags but the stairs are much faster (and better exercise!) If you are driving, be sure to advise them in advance that you need a parking spot as garage space is limited.

A little worried about the stereotypical stories you hear about service in France, we were completely bowled over by how charming and friendly every staff member was from the front desk attendants to the chamber maids. Most especially gracious, friendly and informative however were the wait staff at the breakfast service. Also, don't hesitate to order food from the menu vs. sticking to the buffet spread...it is absolutely delicious!

From a location perspective, you really can't do much better. It's just far enough away from the centre of town (where people stay out quite late) to be quiet, but still only less than a 5 minute walk to all of the action.

Hotel Cezanne has acceptable located, small but smart arranged rooms and reasonable prices. Main feature of the hotel is kind, heart-warming, helpfull and hospitable staff. We were hungry when we came at the hotel on the night (1 a.m. about). Hotel kitchen was closed. In spite of it concierge open the kitchen and cook for us tasty spaghetty dish and staggering French wine. Thanks a lot! There is free cofee machine on floor. The bed was very soft.

Room Tip: I think any room is good.
