“This place is fabulous!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2012

We recently stayed La Maison D’Aix and can only echo what many others have said. This upscale B&B is exceptional. The design is amazing as well as the staff. Sometimes you stay in B&B’s and you’re so careful about being in your own space. At La Maison D’Aix, the house is designed to be used for those who are staying there, so other than the guest rooms, guests are welcome throughout the house. I enjoyed being able to go to the kitchen and make coffee whenever I wanted or have a snack. Both my husband and I felt very welcomed and comfortable staying there. The artwork is also amazing as is the blending of modern design within a historic building.

Viktor helped us out with questions and went out of his way to ensure that we had an excellent stay. He made recommendations for restaurants based on the kind of food we wanted to eat and also helped plan the route to our next B&B. He made excellent breakfasts; large fresh fruit salads, juice, a variety of croissants/breads, cheese platter and other breakfast food if requested (e.g. eggs). He was extremely helpful and pleasant.

The room was large and beautiful. It had beautiful plank flooring, flat screen TV, large shower, a closet with ample space and beautiful sink area. The toilet was in a separate room. There were lots of outlets for keeping batteries charged. The bed was very comfortable. The window opened to a beautiful, quiet garden area.

While in France we stayed in four places, starting with this one. Without a doubt, this was the best place we stayed in and the only one I would recommend and describe as a five star stay.

Room Tip: We had a lovely room with a window opening onto a back garden.

What a warm welcome at La Maison D'Aix! We were greeted with such great staff that made our 3 day stay unforgettable. They bent over backwards to help us, always full of smiles and top-notch sincere service.

Laura suggested that we go to Chateau La Coste and thank goodness we went! A must!

Viktor's advice for restaurants is fantastic! The best of the crop- "Mitch"!

The history and architectural beauty of the place really inspired us. The hotel feels more like a good friend's home.

The impeccable design by Laura and warmth of Viktor makes this stay truly memorable. Opt for the Love Suite on top floor and sip wine on the balcony looking over rooftops of Aix!

I wanted to thank all the staff who provided us superior and personalized service during all our stay.
Everything was just perfect! For three days we lived la Dolce Vita. The hotel itself designed with extreme good test with attention to every single detail without being ostentatious. Everybody made us feel home in this beautiful city. Every morning we got tips for our activities during the day,: a restaurant for lunch or dinner, the place not to miss in our day trip, the best winery on our way (try Chateau Lacoste, it's just great). The little underground spa was fantastic, especially after waking the whole day. For sure we will return to La Maison d'Aix.

I purposely wait for some months before writing a review because your opinion can be skewed one way or the other by any number of experences or the general excitment of the trip. In this way I feel our reviews are more accurate. We stayed here in September 2011 and loved it. We explored much of Provence from three bases over a three week period - Avignon, The Camargue, and Aix-en-Provence. We mixed up the hotels we stayed at to experience as much as possible. La Maison was in a perfect location and yes, as others have stated, rather than a lux hotel, it is actually a VERY upscale, lux B&B. But even B&B does not do it justice. It is beautiful inside, safe, the breakfast is great (one day they apologized for not having the croissants from the best bakery in town that day, only from the second best!), the rooms large (ours, 2nd floor, looked out on a nice yard and we had the lounge all to ourselves), the spa is chic and cozy (again had all to ourselves - bring Champagne and ice-cream), but the staff - is the best. Victor met us in the street when we arrived, brought in our bags and parked the car for us. That was our first impression and it only got better from there. They simply could not do enough for us and did it all happily and without hesitation. No matter how good the hotel, the rooms, the amenities, etc... Nothing matters more than the staff. So book it and enjoy. Trust me on this. If you don't love it and have a great time
it's your fault!

The first day of our three day stay was excellent ...however our stay was ruined. Y the rudeness of the staff for the rest of our time there. It also appears that in addition to the security cameras in the public arrears, guests are being covertly recorded.

It was extremely unpleasant and the only reason that we are rating it as a 2 star is that the first day was brilliant.

Do not go!

Room Tip: The rooms and decor are wonderfull...the staff, however apart from Victornare really horrid and trea...

Dear Sir,

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on TripAdvisor further to your recent stay to La Maison d'Aix.

I am delighted to read that you had a very pleasant first day with us and that you enjoyed the excellence of our house at least on your first day.

The entire team of La Maison d'Aix is always very helpful, kind and never intrusive, and I was very disappointed to read that you did not have a complete enjoyable stay and that you found some areas of our hotel lacking in terms of services.

As mentioned by our guest relations manager on duty, we are proud of the level of luxury and safety we are trying to goal at our Hotel Particulier La Maison d'Aix. Our main entrance and lobby floor are video secured allowing our guests a safe and peaceful stay. This is very
important to all of our guests. We will never compromise on our guests safety and comfort.

We will investigate further on the issue you had with one of our staff on
duty and It is with a particular attention that I read your remark on
this. I wish to extend my apologies for the inconveniences caused to you.

We will be happy to welcome you back to La Maison d'Aix soon and look forward to alter your opinion of our hotel.

Sincerely yours,

Laura Juhen

We always find the recommendations at trip advisor very useful. But this time we felt missed led. There is nothing bad to say about The Maison d’Aix. And everything that was describe in the previous reports is correct. But the superlatives might reduce from your enjoyment. To begin with, it is not an hotel it is very luxurious B&B or Zimmer but it is not an hotel so do not expect to get an hotel service but rather “home like” hospitality. If this is what you are looking for then you are fine. It will not be the most charming place in Provence but a nice place to stay for a city brake. Nevertheless the 1 person that are there to serve you are extremely helpful and nice .

Wow, where do I start? This boutique hotel is one of the best we've been to. We have traveled all over, stayed in large luxury hotels, Relais small hotels, and everything in between. La Maison d'Aix is beautiful. Two blocks from the main street in Aix-en-Provence. It is small, with only four rooms, it is as if you have a fantastic house to yourself in town. The hotel is very inconspicuous (you would not know it is there unless you were looking for it). The interiors are very well done modern design and very comfortable. We stayed in the suite on the 4th floor, it was fantastic...every amenity was available. Victor, the house manager took care of our every need, including a beautiful breakfast to order every morning. I am very picky and usually have at least a suggestion for a hotel's improvement, not for La Maison d'Aix; it was perfect.

Room Tip: Suite on the top floor (there is only one).
