“Highlight of our trip”
Reviewed May 23, 2013 for a stay in May 2013

We ended our three week vacation to Italy and France at la Loubiere. It was absolutely fantastic! Alec and Deb are so sweet and kind to show us all through their main house and property. It was so fun to be staying in a home built in the early 1600s. The grounds had plenty of space for our kids to play, horses nearby, a pool, trampoline, and tennis. We planned our day trips based on their recommendations and each day was such a memory! Loved every bit! I hope we get the opportunity to return.

“Superb Holiday Once Again”
Reviewed October 16, 2012 for a stay in September 2012

This year, we went back to Chateau de la Loubiere. This time we stayed in La Grange, a fantastic gite with everything you need for the perfect holiday. Comfortable beds, high quality linen, towels etc, good size bathrooms, large kitchen and open plan dining and sitting room. The fully equipped kitchen enables you to shop for local produce at the various markets and enjoy lunch/dinner on the wonderful terrace which gets the sun all day and then spend time having a dip or just relaxing by the pool. From the terrace you can delight in the beautiful sunsets with a glass of local wine. There are also many great places to visit, this year we went to Cassis, Bandol and La Ciotat on the coast and enjoyed wonderful seafood. We also visited L'Isle sur la Sorgue for the Thursday market and of course the Friday market at Lourmarin for a 'people watching' lunch. Pertuis itself is a good size town with everything you need, supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants etc and is very central for exploring Provence.
The owners, Deb and Alec are English, and are very knowledgeable about the area and very accommodating and helpful.
Chateau de la Loubiere is always our choice for Provence holidays and hopefully we will be back very soon.

“Disappointing holiday”

We stayed in La grange and Sebastian's house, whilst la grange was comfortable, Sebastian's house felt as though some more modernisation as claimed in the accomodation notes was required. The stairs in la grange were so steep our children needed assistance to walk down to the bathroom which is situated on the floor below. There is no T.V in Sebastian's house, which for the rental cost I found disgusting. My daughter also needed help in the bathroom when faced with a mouse walking across the floor, we also found the cooker to be filthy when first used by us and the fridge freezer had seen better days.

“Fantastic!”

Our extended family of 13 had a wonderful stay at La Loubiere for a week in June. We rented the entire chateau (all three houses), and had more than enough room by far. It is a beautiful place, with a great mix of charming old architecture/construction and functional modern amenities (swimming pool, clean modern bathrooms, excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water, ethernet and wifi access, washer/dryers, dishwashers, etc.). In the main house there is an enormous kitchen/dining/living area, perfect for large groups cooking communal meals (each of the houses has its own full kitchen). There is a TV with a raft of English language channels (but you're in Provence, don't sit in front of the TV!). You can go fishing in an irrigation canal on the property, and there is a river for swimming or fishing a short car or bicycle ride (or energetic walk) up the road. My daughter enjoyed feeding carrots to the horses in the pasture next door.

The property is in a good location, outside the town of Pertuis, and not far from Aix-en-Provence (close enough to Aix that you can go there for just lunch and a bit of shopping if you want). It is convenient for longer side trips to places like Marseilles, Cassis, Roussillon, Arles, Avignon, Pont du Gard (not to be missed).

Alec and Deb are excellent hosts and fun upbeat people. They provide just the right balance of privacy and accessibility. They were always available for advice about the area, things to do, and just to chat (for humorous insight into French politics, ask Alec about the boar in the canal). I assume they would have been equally responsive to any problems with the property, but we didn't have any issues of that nature.

Overall we had a fabulous week (and were blessed with great weather). I highly recommend La Loubiere, and would definitely stay there again (I think one of the smaller houses by itself would be perfect for a second honeymoon...)

“Relax in Provence”
Reviewed July 8, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

A warm welcome, great facilities and a great location to explore the local area. The pool was so nice to enjoy at the end of the day or even spend all day by it. Pop to the local town for food and wine. The wine at Val Joanis was amazing and the courgrettes they gave us were great too. A great time was had by all.

Will definately go back if the oppertunity comes along.

“home away from home”
Reviewed June 18, 2012 for a stay in June 2012

we stayed in les plantanes and found everything so comfortable about this property. the hosts are geniel, kind, and helpful! the cottage is just right! quality everything, quaint but feels just like your own small home in provence! The location for exploring the luberon and beyond is perfect - we went as far as cassis on the coast and gordes in the upper louberon. we also enjoyed just being on the property using the tennis and pool or our own patio, all very private and peacefull! some limited internet .... the livebox signal does not quite reach the interiors so it needs to be acessed from the main courtyard - in fact the system for getting anything you may need is a rope pull to the window above the main courtyard where deb or alec pop out the window !

“Fantastic Hosts”
Reviewed May 17, 2012 for a stay in May 2012

Just got back from a week in the south of France. We had the exceptional fortune of booking our stay at Chateau de la Loubiere. Alec and Deb were fantastic hosts. The grounds were beautiful and the accomidations exceptional. With it's close proximity to so many wonderful places to visit we found this the ideal location for visiting Provence. We really enjoyed relaxing on the porch each evening with a great bottle of local wine, soaking up the sun and enjoying the view. We are definitely going back. Don't miss the wine tasting at the Chateau Grand Callamand vineyard which is on the road to Pertuis from la Loubiere.
