From the largest, la Rotonde, at one end to the fountain sporting a statue of "good King Rene" at the other, this plane tree-lined boulevard has a variety of shops and restaurants on one side and mostly stately and massive buildings (former townhouses of aristocrats) housing administrative offices and such on the other. My favorite stops are Monoprix for sundries, a couple of bookstores and the best stationary store in southern France. Be sure to take time in one of the sidewalk brasseries to have un café or Pastis to watch the crowd roll by.
