There were five of us staying at the Mercure Poitiers Centre for one night only. We had booked a suite, a privilege room both in the old church and one room in the new part.
The suite number 411 we had was very disappointing given the price and not at all what we had been told we were getting when we booked. We were meant to be getting 422. It looked very much like the 414 my sister had for one hundred euros less.
When I complained about it I was told that we had 15 square meters more but really this could not be seen and there was no real area for you to relax for instance watching TV because the sofa was facing the open shower room opposite the loo and the TV was upstairs where the bed was.
Also note that the plumbing got very noisy at night around 3.30 am.
If you want a suite, don't ask for that one. Ask for room 422.
My sister really liked her room but I can't say as much about the other people in our party who were staying in the new building. They felt the rooms looked unfinished because of the way the ceilings had not been decorated and they nearly broke their neck in the shower when they slipped.
The restaurant area is really interesting and we all enjoyed the harp mini concerto in the evening. Breakfast was excellent. On the whole, the staff were all very friendly with perhaps the exception of the manager. I did like the way she tried to explain to me I was wrong to think I did not have value for money with the suite as had spent the night in. She was off hand and very dismissive. Not the way to handle a customer. She might think about going on a refresher course on customer care.
