“French beauty at its best”
Reviewed June 15, 2013 via mobile

This B & B exceeded our expectations in every way. The hostesses, Fabienne, was warm and welcoming, helpful but not at all intrusive. It's a bit like you are staying in her home but she never makes you feel anything but totally comfortable and at home. We are here with three children and would recommend this to anyone - with or without children in tow - coming to France. Poitiers itself is a stunning town with all the beauty and history you could imagine but without the bustle of a bigger city. This morning we went to the market and wandered around - barely another foreigner in sight and there was Fabienne waving from the cafe in the centre as she sat with her friends. The Maison is quite stunning - quaint inside and full of interesting antiquities, but it is the garden that we'll never forget. This is a place featured in coffee table books of this region. It is simply superb. Flowers, trees, pebbled walks, pool, hedges, gorgeous furniture, long grassed alleys, gates, stoned walls. We picnicked down by the river and basked in the beauty. We will be back.

My partner and I spent just one perfect night at Les Cours du Clain before meeting family in France. We were child free for the night and wanted to relax in peaceful, beautiful surroundings and it was everything and more that we could have dreamt of.
We were welcomed by Fabiennes lovely daughter and was offered a bottle of their own wine from their vineyard. We relaxed by the pool for a few hours which was very peaceful. You have to stay and enjoy the beautiful gardens, pool area and tree lined driveway, its full of charm.
We then realised that we had booked a restaurant 10 minutes away though didnt have a car to get there, it was quite difficult to get a taxi to come from Poitier as there was a function on in town. We met Fabienne who is lovely, my partner speaks fluent French and they got on very well, she kindly offered us a lift into Poitier as she dropped her daughter off, which we really appreciated. I would recommend that you do need a car even though its only 5-10 mins away from the airport and the centre of Poitier.
We stayed in the Tower Room which was an out building separate from the main house, equally as beautiful, an old room with very modern and tasteful decor. Fabienne has great taste.
The breakfast in the morning was very well presented with an abundance of freshly baked bread, cakes, pastries, coissants served with a selection of drinks, coffee in a bowl, freshly squeezed juice.
We would love to return and would take our little boy as the pool area would be lovely for him. If you want to chill out, relax in beautiful surroundings, this is the perfect place and if you have ever seen the film "A Good Year" with Russell Crowe which is a charming film, this place reminded us of a renovated version of his place!! Thank you Fabienne.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Tower Room which is seperate from the main house, quiet, cosy, modern - please see...

Fatal.
SUCIEDAD; MALA ACTITUD; DESAYUNO FLOJO Y NO ADMITEN QUE PIDAS MAS, PELOS EN LAS SABANAS CUANDO LLEGAMOS, CENICEROS LLENOS DECIGARROS YBASURAS DE ANTERIORES CLIENTES,NOS FUIMOS ANTES PERDIENDO NUEStro diNERO:CAMAS QUE TE DOBLAN LA ESPALDA ;So many troubles.......It looks beautiful but when you are in, problems start... arrive , open my bed and it was plenty of hairs.......i asked for changing sheets and she told me that they were clean, that it was because the sheets were black, but she did not excuse.
Beds are unconfortable, really unconforttable, and beds for children were not beds, you can see in phopographes.
Dust and spiderwebs verywhere, ashtrays plenty of rubbish and cigarretes from other guests...
Everyday i had to stand up at 9 inthe morning to open the door of the house for the lady for preparing our breakfast. everyday something was forgotten. No milk, not enough croissants for everybody, butter used before for other clients as you can see in photographs, hot watrer but nor inffussion to put in.....And you had to go and look for her for asking and she was rude when giving forgotten thhings. She told the house was plenty and it was to much work for her, but that is not our problem.
We had reserved for 5 days, and prepayed it, and we left at the third day, loosing our money and oir time, with trhee children and nowhere to go.
when we told the lady that we werer leaving and all the problems, she got angry, telling me that i had not travelled enough and that hotels in Spain are quite worse than his house.......
I asked a bill, oficial bill and she got angry again, and when she given to me, she admitedd she had taken to much money for taxes and had to return some money. So if i had not asked for thee bill, she should steal that money to me????????
It is not a cheap place, and service is not good.
it is in the middle of nowhere, very far from town and nothing in walking distance.
Do not go if you are looking for a clean place and be carefull w¡ith the lady if you need anything.
BUFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF waht a bad experience!!!!!!!!
You can see i took some photographes, it is a pitty i can not show the lady actitude !!!!!!

My husband and I just spent 2 nights chez Fabienne Aubin at Les Cours du Clain and we had a wonderful time. The welcome here is very warm and we immediately felt at ease as soon as we arrived.

One can feel the history and character of this house right away, yet she’s updated it with just the right modern touches to make it comfortable. The garden with the pool is unbelievable. This place was an oasis. I had just spent two months living in the hustle and bustle of Poitiers center and very much appreciated the calm and quiet of this location.

You will definitely need a car and should not mind being 5 minutes out of the center of town if you come here, but if you're ok with that and you're looking for romance, charm, and an authentic French experience, then I recommend Les Cours du Clain. If you do stay here, make sure to budget at least half a day for lounging in the garden or using the pool. It's not to be missed.

Also, the breakfast presentation and ambiance are superb. Guests dine ensemble in the dining room around a large table spread with all manner of pastry, breads, and fruits. There is also hot coffee and fresh pressed juice.

If you are a family, she has available a beautifully renovated guest house just alongside the main house and adjacent to the pool that I imagine would be wonderful for guests with children.

Our one night stay became two, as we could not tear ourselves away! Firstly the charm and style of the room and the wonderful space of the gardens - something to delight the eye wherever one turned. But mostly the warmth and generous hospitality of Fabienne herself. A truly unique experience.
