We decided on this hotel to mark our 40th wedding anniversary in La Rochelle and weren't disappointed. The high ceilinged room boasted a fine glass chandelier to match the stylish armoire and huge bed. Tastefully furnished the standard of cleanliness was excellent. The staff were superb and the hotel historically elegant and well positioned in the town.

We've just had two nights at this hotel. Rooms are simple and the bathroom is compact; all are clean and well presented. Good location for a pre/post dinner stroll to the main restaurants. We didn't opt for breakfast in the hotel as there are so many wonderful places offering fabulous goodies near by! The only let down is no tea/coffee making facility in the room. Other than that a great value place to stay and secure car parking next door an added bonus.

We stayed here for 2 nights this month and did not regret our decision. The hotel is very welcoming and all the staff wanted us to enjoy our stay. The location is perfect for the centre of the town and walking to local restaurants.

We opted to have breakfast and found plenty of choice and also the cooked option (eggs) were well presented.

I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back facing the garden are very peaceful

We unfortunately only stayed one night at this delightful hotel. Our very large room overlooked the garden, and was peaceful and tranquil. The receptionist was super helpful giving us a map of the area, and suggesting the street where restaurants were situated.

The garage was right next door, so ideal for the hotel. The hotel is ideally situated for the town, not far to walk for anything.

Unfortunately I left my phone charger in the room! but the hotel called me and have arranged to have it returned to me - great service - we would definitely return again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the garden, but I'm sure all the rooms are good

Beautiful building in the center of town. We got an upgrade, our room was very spacious and comfortable. Location is good, very close to the city center. Breakfast is good value for money, lots of choice. Parking is possible next to the hotel and reasonably priced. Free wifi.

We were booked to stay here for 1 night only while on a 6-week driving tour around France but on arrival and viewing, we wished it could have been for longer. It is spotlessly clean, spacious, beautifully decorated, excellent value and the staff were very helpful and spoke very good English. Our room over-looked the garden and, as requested, was so quiet. Parking was in a secure garage next door. Location was perfect - very close walking distance to the markets, local square, excellent high class shopping and the historic old port area with many restaurants and lovely scenery.
Be aware when walking back from the Port area, through the cloistered streets after dark, as young, undesirable ' characters', frequent some areas. Ignore them and they are harmless enough - but we got followed back some distance to the hotel by 2 older guys when we crossed the street to avoid the younger ones. We were very pleased to see the hotel doors open automatically and let us inside. This is NOT a problem of the hotel, just life in general and we would definitely stay here again given another chance and have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the garden would be the quietest.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in September 2012. Our room faced the garden in back and even though it was over the breakfast area, it was quiet and comfortable. The hotel is a block from a bus station(not a negative in this situation) from which we took a bus to Ile de Re and had a wonderful time biking and stopping to eat oysters. The town is very small, walkable and a bit touristy. The bed, linens and room were very clean. We had a shower in the tub and my only suggestion to the hotel would be to add a grab bar for older visitors as the tub is a bit deep. The staff helped make restaurant reservations and spoke some English though we spoke in French as much as our vocabulary would allow. We only had breakfast at the hotel on Sunday morning as not much was open in town. We felt the breakfast was ok, not great and a bit expensive. There are pastry shops off the main square that offer inexpensive breakfast. Would definitely recommend this hotel. There is a lift and there is parking, though we did not use the latter so I cannot comment on its convenience. We took the train to La Rochelle from Paris and used a taxi only to and from the railroad station.

Room Tip: This hotel is on a quiet street. Our room was in the back and we could hear some noise from apartmen...
