The IBIS vieux port is "encased" in a catholic church that was set on fire by protestants some hundreds of years ago and has been restored as a hotel for the past 40 years. The national "monuments histories" guarantee its authenticity and IBIS needs to preserve its aspect as it used to be. Only the outside walls are kept as they were but the inside is completely modern. Our rooms faced the inside patio and were quiet. The shower is large and practical. There are many cafes within very short distance for a breakfast facing the port of La Rochelle. There is a handicap parking place across from the hotel and another parking place to get the suitcases out. Service is professional. Rooms are air conditioned and there are twin rooms as other types. Wifi is available. The location is fantastic.

Room Tip: ask if the rooms face the patio or the outside. I don't think the noise would be unbearable even facing the street.

Found hotel off Internet because of it's location between the Station and Town centre. Arrived early and allowed into room which was very helpfull. Staff very helpfull, room fair size and clean with a decent bathroom/shower one of the best beds we have ever slept in, shame we couldnt fit it in the case!! Breakfast nicely laid out and enough choices to keep most people happy if you not happy to pay €9+tax theres a great cafe across the squiare... Very central for most places and would stay there again...

Bought a package that included the car park which is just across the square, you will be lucky to get parking anywhere else. This is a typical Ibis, I have no complaints at all, the room is large enough ( compare with Parisian hotels) and the breakfast subsantial. Staff very pleasant. Few nearby restaurants or 10 min walk round the harbour takes you to the main town. Recommeded
