Vue sur cour is simply perfect. We stayed in the Aglae room which had the most comfortable, clean, crisp bed! The b & b is beautifully decorated and is spotlessly clean. It is located in a side road just off the harbour, perfect if you want to nip back and change your shoes. We woke to the smell of fresh from the oven pastries and the breakfast was the best thing we ate all weekend! Everything was homemade: yogurt, cake, croissant, orange juice. Do. Ot think twice about staying here if you visit La Rochelle!

I cannot recommend this B&B enough. It was quite simply perfect. Travelled with my boyfriend, his parents, sister and brother-in-law so took up 3 of the 4 rooms available for 3 nights. Each room is beautifully decorated with divinely comfortable beds. I would especially recommend the Aglae. Breakfast was mostly homemade produce and the owner Marika had lots of great tips for places to go and where to eat. Slightly expensive but have paid much more for much worse accomodation. La Rochelle itself is picturesque and has a lively mix of people of all ages. Only tiny criticism is that there are no English tv channels and the televisions were very small - but you don't go on holiday to watch tv anyway!

We stayed here for 2 weeks recently and we had an absolutely fabulous time. The accommodation is immaculate, the owners are so helpful, giving us advise on where to go and what to do. We even borrowed their bicycles to cycle around some of the sights. The pool is so relaxing and we got brilliant weather to top it al off. I would highly recommend this accomodation for anyone to stay in. Also the selection of local food and wine is second to none, great shopping value also, great place to bring your car to bring home all the bargains!

Beautiful rooms, and fabulous location very close to the port. This, unfortunately, means it can be very noisy at night and early morning.
The biggest problem for us was the heat. If you opened the windows, there was the noise (and the danger of being bitten by mosquitos), but there was no air con, or fan, in the room, so it became very hot.
That said, in cooler months, I would highly recommend this B and B.

I fully agree with the previous review. The house is lovely, with many original details still in place but it also has a contemporary feel - the best of both worlds. It has only four rooms and is so much better than soul-less large hotels. Marika, the owner, is lovely and speaks good English (but, of course, will encourgage you to practice your French). Breakfast is an excellent example of the continentasl fare that can be so poor in some places, with home-made apple and pear compote which goes down a treat when mixed with the home-made yogurt. It's stone's throw from the port and the bustling restaurants and about a 10 min stroll to the town beach - which is far nicer than some of the guides suggest, and better, in my opinion, than the one at Minimies which many reviewers suggest is "smarter". The Brasserie on the beach is a very pleasant lunch spot. La Rochelle itself is lovely too, with excellent restaurants and very interesting architecture and history. I strongly recommend Vue Sur Cour for a holiday in the area.

This wonderful little guesthouse is beautifully decorated and well located right in the heart of the vibrant port area of La Rochelle. The rooms are well proportioned and spotlessly clean with great attention to detail. Our bed was really comfortable and the breakfast, served in the courtyard, was very good. Just take a look at their website to get a feel for this fabulous house, I recommend it highly.

  • Liked — Attention to detail
  • Disliked — No on-site parking but there is free public parking around the corner
