Stayed for 1 night.

Very small, dark room, with high window from which you can see the harbour.

Air con is good. Location is perfect. It’s not posh, it’s very basic but we definitely got value for money.

I wouldn’t recommend the 4th floor room for longer than a night, it would be a bit depressing as the window is more like a skylight.

I would definitely recommend for a stopover.

1st visit to La Rochelle, 2 nights. Excellent choice of hotel. Hotel reception is on 1st floor within a parade of restaurants and shops, all of which were open for lunch and busy and buzzing from about 7pm.
Check-in was painless. Room (ours facing the harbour) was clean, quiet and comfortable. Yes it is not massive but perfectly adequate and with two sets of windows, silent. You will not find a bar or restaurant onsite, it is a comfortable place to relax and sleep. Those other things are just steps away outside.
Staff (I only saw two) were courteous and friendly. Breakfast if required is not expensive and served in a breakfast room, either indoors or in a small courtyard. We only took one morning for, although not expensive neither was it expansive: cup of tea or coffee, orange juice, a croissant and bread roll (both fresh and nice), butter and jam, bananas or kiwifruit, plain yoghurt. Nothing wrong with that, classic french breakfast I hear you say. True, but the previous hotel we were spoiled with cereals, cheeses, ham, hot eggs, bacon, etc as well as the above. Anyway we utilised a local restaurant the 2nd day.
Room air/con individually controlled and chilled, although a bit noisy and I couldn't turn the fan down. Ended up turning off and opening the windows. Super till about 7am when the bin-men arrive outside :)
To summarise: a comfortable hotel in a great location. Would book again.
La Rochelle is a terrific 'Sea-Side' town, even has a beach!
P.S. park at 'Vieux Port Ouest', about 10 a day. 5 min walk but google it - it's all one-way streets!

Room Tip: a top floor harbour room (4th?) may have good harbour views at a small premium. But remember - no lift! lol

We chose this hotel mainly on price to fit in with a last minute flight offer for a cheap two night visit. The location is great, we had a room on the third floor overlooking the old port. Although we arrived in bright sunshine it was bitterly cold outside. The room was lovely and warm. It was quite "compact" and space was limited by a single bed in the corner, however there was enough room for a small farmhouse table and two chairs should you wish to eat in the room. The bathroom looked newly refurbished with a shower, no bath. The shower was really great. There was a double French window which opened wide when the weather warmed up. Being brutally honest, the hotel could do with a coat of paint everywhere, but it was very clean. Wifi is only available in the small breakfast room on the first floor, I didn't try it, used mobile data. Breakfast, croissant, bread roll, yogurt, fruit juice, was not included in the price. There are loads of places around to eat. We enjoyed our stay, the staff are great. Please be aware there is no lift, even reception is upstairs on the first floor but help is around for luggage if needed. Very good value.

Situated on the promenade of La Rochelle this little hotel provides the perfect base for exploring the town. The reception and tiny breakfast room are on the first floor, our bedroom was on the second and it was a relief that we weren't on the third. We had a 'sea view' room which was small but adequate - not much room to walk around the bed. The bathroom was good and all very clean. Breakfast was typically French. The staff were helpful and friendly. Parking was in a public car park close by.

Room Tip: Unless you are very fit go for second floor bedrooms.

Hotel right on the harbour and overlooking lots of restaurants, Fascinating city with sea-going history, Only 2 rooms per floor and a flight of stairs to reach reception then 2 more double flights of stairs to our room. The room itself was lovely and we could pop in and out as we wanted. No toiletries. Some restaurants encouraged you to buy food at the boulanger and buy their coffee and sit as long as you wanted. The people were friendly and welcoming. Advertised free internet and gave me the code but could not access it.
