nice hotel with very friendly staff, right in the center of small town la pedrera. wifi worked great and breakfast in the morning is a treat. fresh chilled OJ and good croissants and breadrolls. the town is rather small and the restaurants good but also pricey (went to La Pe and Perillan). make sure you pack insect repellent as this is mosquito country !

My husband and I visited La Pedrera in late May and were so happy with our experience. We stayed for four nights, and like some of the other reviewers, wished we had spent more time there. Because we were visiting in the fall, we were the only ones at the hotel. The peace and quiet was exactly what we came for...we read books all day on our patio watching the ocean, in our comfy bed, in the lounge by the fireplace, in the garden with their cat Ricardo.

The staff was wonderfully friendly and available, the rooms are gorgeous (we had a Zen room), and the beach is beautiful. If you're visiting off-season like we did, be aware that services are a little sparse. A tip: If you're driving, stop in Atalandia and buy wine at Vinedo de los Vientos. Then stop at the supermarket and pick up enough fiambres (dried meats) y quesos (cheese) for your stay.

Good things about this place: the bed and the restaurant
Bad things: no tv, no dvd, no radio, no hairdryer, no telephone, so bring your own entertainment. Also if you are not into smelling the stench of marihuana cigarettes at 8am coming from everywhere around the place, don't go there. The service was over friendly, bordering on nosy, I checked out a day earlier and asked them if I could use the credit for the night at another time of the year, and never answered the emails I sent them. It's a shame, since the place is pretty nicely decorated.

We spent 2 nights in Las Brisas; it more than met our high expectations. We were only disappointed that we had not planned for more nights there. From the moment of arrival you feel welcomed into a calm and lovely atmosphere - the pleasant lobby and dining area with charming, lovely gardens beyond and the gentle sounds of music competing pleasantly with birdsong. The staff could not have been more helpful or cheerful or kind.

Our room was fabulous: large, clean and comfortable, with fabulous views of two directions from the floor to ceiling glass doors. The balcony was perfect. Very Zen. We enjoyed breakfast on our balcony and in the garden, and had a very good dinner one evening in the hotel tea room.

I recommend this hotel, and La Pedrera, to any visitors to this part of Uruguay.

Room Tip: The room we had, #6, was the corner room on the second floor - just perfectj!

At first sight you might think you were in hippieville in the 60's when you drive down main street of La Pedrera but do not let that change your mind, you are in for a lovely experience. Despite the dirt road if you look closely you will see some very interesting dwellings and open air cafes and restos that have a charm all their own. Turn the corner to the left and a few buildings down you arrive at Brisas boutique hotel. You are greeted with a smile and welcomed into a peaceful lobby that opens up into a garden and a courtyard of rooms. Ours was on the 2nd floor(top) at the end and the room which was huge had floor to ceiling glass on 2 side which overlooked the most beautiful beach.what a magnificent view. Breakfast was included and delicious. The king size bed was comfy, the a/c worked well, no tv and no phones, but wifi yes. Who would need any more.
Unlike Punta delEste this place is for lovers of peace and tranquility. We stayed 4 nights and I was sad to leave. Found some great spots to eat , even went to the best sweet shop cafe this side of SA called Casa Dulce. Nothing to do but swim, surf, sun and relax .At night down main street vendors of all kinds of jewelry and artifacts show their wares and there are many great items to buy. We would go back in a heartbeat. Some lovely homes along the coast also, you just have to look.

Room Tip: Facing the sea, upper floor, corner room divine.

Brisas de la Pedrera is a beautifully situated little hotel, with superb service, innovative healthful cuisine, charming staff, and lovely surroundings. Our Zen 1 room was spacious, with comfortable beds and a wonderful shower. The balcony looked out onto the town, but there was a window with an ocean view over the bed. Breakfast was exactly what we wanted, with fresh orange juice and fruit, yogurt, granola, and breads. Delicious coffee. We had a happy hour pizza with arugula that was absolutely delicious. Staff was gracious and helpful and always friendly and cordial. The backyard and vegetable garden were delightful. Other guests were international, friendly, and quite interesting.

We didn't start on a good note as the room we'd booked was not available - however they were apologetic and offered us complimentary coffee and let us check in 3 hours early which was really welcome. The place is really lovely, perched up on a hill overlooking the beach and just a block away from all the action. The evening menu looked great too but we wanted to get amongst it so we ventured on to the main street. The showers are good, and the general vibe is very welcoming - i could not fault them there. I highly recommend it!

Room Tip: If you want something special, as for the penthouse zen suite - on the corner facing the beach. That...
