At first sight you might think you were in hippieville in the 60's when you drive down main street of La Pedrera but do not let that change your mind, you are in for a lovely experience. Despite the dirt road if you look closely you will see some very interesting dwellings and open air cafes and restos that have a charm all their own. Turn the corner to the left and a few buildings down you arrive at Brisas boutique hotel. You are greeted with a smile and welcomed into a peaceful lobby that opens up into a garden and a courtyard of rooms. Ours was on the 2nd floor(top) at the end and the room which was huge had floor to ceiling glass on 2 side which overlooked the most beautiful beach.what a magnificent view. Breakfast was included and delicious. The king size bed was comfy, the a/c worked well, no tv and no phones, but wifi yes. Who would need any more.
Unlike Punta delEste this place is for lovers of peace and tranquility. We stayed 4 nights and I was sad to leave. Found some great spots to eat , even went to the best sweet shop cafe this side of SA called Casa Dulce. Nothing to do but swim, surf, sun and relax .At night down main street vendors of all kinds of jewelry and artifacts show their wares and there are many great items to buy. We would go back in a heartbeat. Some lovely homes along the coast also, you just have to look.

Room Tip: Facing the sea, upper floor, corner room divine.

Brisas de la Pedrera is a beautifully situated little hotel, with superb service, innovative healthful cuisine, charming staff, and lovely surroundings. Our Zen 1 room was spacious, with comfortable beds and a wonderful shower. The balcony looked out onto the town, but there was a window with an ocean view over the bed. Breakfast was exactly what we wanted, with fresh orange juice and fruit, yogurt, granola, and breads. Delicious coffee. We had a happy hour pizza with arugula that was absolutely delicious. Staff was gracious and helpful and always friendly and cordial. The backyard and vegetable garden were delightful. Other guests were international, friendly, and quite interesting.

We didn't start on a good note as the room we'd booked was not available - however they were apologetic and offered us complimentary coffee and let us check in 3 hours early which was really welcome. The place is really lovely, perched up on a hill overlooking the beach and just a block away from all the action. The evening menu looked great too but we wanted to get amongst it so we ventured on to the main street. The showers are good, and the general vibe is very welcoming - i could not fault them there. I highly recommend it!

Room Tip: If you want something special, as for the penthouse zen suite - on the corner facing the beach. That looks like the best room - however i did not stay there.

We wanted to stay a week by the beach after a trip to Patagonia. Not finding what we were looking for in Argentina we took a chance on travelling to neighbouring Uruguay not knowing what to expect. We discovered a beautiful quiet and laid back country with wonderful people. We read an article about Boutique Hotel Brisas de la Pedrera and took a chance since we had to pay our week's stay up front. How delighted we were when we took off from Punta del Este airport in our rented car. The countryside north from Punta del Este is an absolute marvel. The roads are in billiardtable condition and the weather was just perfect in the week before Xmas ... not to mention Boutique Hotel Brisas de la Pedrera. Just right. Large clean rooms, wonderful views, pleasant and helpful staff (from owner Laura to Pedro at reception, Gabriel and the breakfast lady at the tables, Roberto and Leo in the Kitchen, the ladies who cleaned the rooms). Just perfect. I might not go back to Uruguay but I will cherish the memory for a long time to come. Tops Punta del Este anytime !!!

Room Tip: Room 5 top floor is best view at best value !

Very friendly staff and beautiful spaceous rooms. Hotel is completely refurbished since 3 seasons. Perfect location. Not cheap, but off-season rates are still manageable. If you get the chance, it's a real treat!
