The hotel was quite old fashioned, but a very friendly reception and very helpful employees. Our room was very comfortable (triple) on the second floor. When we booked we were informed that only 2 rooms were available, but it was actually on arrival quite empty. We ate in the restaurant in the evening - the atmosphere was very quite as there were only 3 other people eating there - however the food was excellent. Very central and easy access to the Catherdral. We pre-booked the hotel car park - otherwise you have to park on the street - narrow entrance / exit to car park.

Room tip: rooms overlooking street have obvious street noise, but not an issue for us

Some things don't change in Laon which is wonderful, but perhaps certain improvements should be made. We had the same room as before which had not been improved, if anything had deteriorated, although photographs on the website show others have been updated. (We use this on the first floor because of slight mobility difficulties). As before attentive friendly service and the good restaurant - see separate review- are let down by what can only be described by the shabbiness of the room which makes it seem over-priced. I regret having to say this, I so much want to be positive, but the owners need to attend to this now. It is ok for one night which is probably all you need in Laon, but a shame it isn't fulfilling its potential

This hotel is up in the medieval town. It has parking thank goodness, but it doesn't have an elevator, and there are no rooms on the ground floor. We found it comfortable but for me who is a bit handicapped, the walk to the only available room on the third floor was enough that we only stayed the one night. The staff were great and understood my issues with canceling our reservation after one night. That was fine because you really don't need several days to explore this town, which in Sept was closing up some of the touristic stores for the winter. I would recommend that all take the 11 € train from the Tourist office as it saves a lot of walking and shows one everything the town has to offer. My guess is that this is the best hotel in the upper town.

We recently stayed here for the second year running. Great atmosphere, lovely staff, and a really good restaurant- we ate in three nights running and the food and wine were excellent.
The big mystery is why people stay at the hotel but choose to eat elsewhere, as they are really missing out.

We have stayed here several times in the last few years, twice this year already. We travel frequently in a vintage vehicle and the garage is ideal. The rooms are quirky and individual, and the restaurant is excellent. The owner and his staff are all very friendly and welcoming. The town of Laon is fascinating and a walk around it is a must.
