Stayed here for one night in August on the way down south - its a lovely little b&b with a very welcoming, friendly host in Jerome. Nicely decorated old house, lovely bedroom with great view, we could have stayed longer. Laon is a lovely old medieval village with a great cathedral - although it was a bit of a ghost town when we were there because everyone was on holiday.

We stayed at La Maison des 3 Rois for two nights. The traffic system in this lovely medieval town meant that our GPS took us past it twice whilst looking for the property (expecting a prominent sign) - it is not obvious and it is best to look for the house number rather than a sign. We arrived a little after the requested time but were warmly greeted by Sondrine who could not have been nicer throughout our stay. The appearance of the Chambre d'hotes belies its interior which is full of character. The breakfast dining area is in what was an internal courtyard converted into an atrium by the fitting of a glass roof - a really pleasant place to eat. When we were taken to our room in the attic the date of the building, 1396, became delightfully apparent. Initially we exchanged apprehensive glances as we climbed ancient stairs through the roof space which clearly showed the age of the building, not really sure what to expect. However, we were entranced by the room with its ancient brick floor, exposed rafters and clever use of furnishing. The bed was really comfortable and the unusual, open plan bathroom was in keeping with a huge shower and separate toilet which, however had clear glass in the door - rather unsettling! The breakfast was excellent. It is possible to park (free) on Rue St Martin, close by.
We loved every moment of our stay and look forward to returning.

Room Tip: The attic rooms maybe a problem for anyone with mobility difficulties

In a very old house (from the 15th or 16th century) the owner created 4 bedrooms which are all different. All rooms have a nice athmosphere and lots of space. From the house to the centre of the town takes only a 10 minutes walk. The breakfast is French (of course) and very good. The owner has decorating as a hobby and you can see that everywhere.

We can only echo what others have said. We stayed in the room at the top and it was beautifully decorated, oozing history with a really comfy bed and excellent bathroom. Laon is a picturesque small town and we would love to stay longer next time.
