“Cute rooms with great showers but no help with seeing the sights”
Reviewed June 17, 2012 via mobile

We thought the hotel and rooms were nicely renovated. The staff were helpful and breakfast was a nice selection. being on the main street with garbage trucks and the usual street sweepers meant there was a fair bit of noise. The only downfall for us, traveling by train only, was not being able to access any tours from this small town. But we still managed to fill in a couple of days by visiting the local chateau, wineries etc. If you want to do some serious chateau visits and don't have a car, probably need to stay in Tours or similar to access the tour companies. We asked the hotel reception several times about this and they couldnt offer any assistance which was frustrating (plus varying levels of English). Drinks in the local square and trying interesting concoctions of beer and pommegranate syrup and lemonade was surprisingly delicious!

This is an updated hotel in the centre of Saumur. At reception, which is on the first floor, we were treated in an efficient friendly manner. We were shown to our room by a receptionist who checked both the toilet and shower room to ensure that they were clean and provisioned.
All of the rooms have a theme and we stayed in 'Romance'. Our room was at the front of the hotel and as it was hot in the evening it was necessary to have the french doors open. as a consequence it was very noisy.
There is a secure car park at a small extra charge.
Being centrally located, there are an abundance of restaurants within easy walking distance as are the main tourist attractions, the chateau etc.
Breakfast was served in a bright airy room and a good selection was provided

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not overlook the main road!

We stayed here for two nights Sunday -Monday Sept 11-12. The hotel is very close to the centre of town close to Tourist office and lots of restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped with our luggage up the steep main stairs to the reception. Our twin bedded room was very comfortable- clean and roomy. We enjoyed our breakfast in the very pleasant breakfast room. It was also nice to have secure parking next to the hotel. The only advise I would give is that on Monday Saumur most everthing is closed including the Chateau.
As it was raining but we did go on a delightful boat ride.

Stayed here on a Friday night on the way to Bordeaux and found the hotel to be excellent although it took five goes to find the car park!! Booked the room direct with the hotel with Claire being very helpful. Stayed in room No 1 which had air-con, the room was spacious with a large double bed and large two people shower. The hotel is situated in the middle of town with secure parking, easy walk to bars and restaurants although we found that some restaurants don't start serving until 7p.m. ! Breakfast was good but could probably find better value in town overall though really nice hotel.

We stayed for one night towards the end of August 2011. This hotel is ideally situated in the centre of Saumur, with plenty of good restaurants within easy reach. The Tourist Information Centre is just a couple of minutes away; the staff there were very helpful. The decor and general presentation in the hotel is excellent, the staff friendly and very helpful. Yes, the staircase up to Reception is challenging for someone carrying a heavy suitcase, but I'm sure the staff would have helped if needed. The room and ensuite facilities are excellent, and the breakfast was good - a very generous pot of hot chocolate was much appreciated. Having a secure above-ground car park behind the hotel was very helpful. We'd definitely recommend a stay there.

The rooms are small, but comfortable. Very clean and well located on the main street of the beautiful town of Saumur. Good breakfast and friendly staff.
