This is a superb assemblage of tanks from their beginning in 2015 during the Great War, including the only surviving examples of the first 2 French tanks, and continuing up to the present day. They have an awesome collection of German Panzerwagons of WWII. I had never seen many of the tanks dating from the 1950's to 1990's, especially the Israeli built tanks dating from 1970. Tons of history here, and much of the details have English translations! I highly recommend this place to anyone interested in the history of armor.

Saumur is full of the type of tanks that actually fought during WW2. There are lots of French tanks in there from WW1 onwards but it is mainly WW2. A long way from the UK but well worth diverting to if you are heading for the south of France. We did it in a day from Normandy but it was a bit of a long drive. There is parking there but only drinks machines, no café.

A brilliant museum with tanks and other equipment from all over the world. A good few hours needed to absorb the different exhibits. Well worth a visit. Good free parking

We were on holiday and thought a good day out would be with this amazing collection of tanks and other (related) armoured and not-so-armoured vehicles, some 800 in total.

A huge collection of vehicles, flags and uniforms, plus assorted radio comms gear from yester-year.

Be prepared to spend several hours going round this superb collection, and enjoy.

There are vending machines ONLY in the 'coffee shop' at the end of your tour. . . . .
