We checked online before we came and were under the impression that we would get a complimentary tasting of some of the different mushrooms after the 'tour'. However, after walking through the caves and seeing all the mushrooms (we were not offered a guide), we came out and when we asked we were told we could purchase some to taste, at an extra cost. Definitely not worth the 7 euros to simply walk through the caves if you don't get a tasting included.

An odd little attraction this - loads and loads of mushrooms in caves and a bizarre little room with glass display cabinets full of mushrooms (and related objects) of the world :) Not for those who aren't very mobile as it's all stone steps and cobbled ramps throughout, not to mention sometimes very low ceilings. But it's fun - not too much to learn really, but an amusing diversion.

Wasn't sure about it when my partner suggested it, but we weren't disappointed. This isn't a place for kids though as they will struggle to find interest. As adults we found the displays interesting, seeing the sheer variety of mushrooms available. There were a large range of mushrooms being grown and was really interesting seeing how they grow and the different structures. Joint ticket with Pierre et lumiere which made this excellent value to us.

I was quite eager to visit this place and was certainly not disappointed. The guy with the glasses who served us was fantastic, very pleasant and helpful, certainly more pleasant than the rather dreadful other mushroom place I went to in Montsoreau (which was absolute rubbish!).
The caves are a strange and interesting place, so different! There were quite a lot of mushroom to see, obviously. There was also an exhibit showing you lots of different types of them, it was interesting.
If you are in the Loire and are bored of visiting chateaux, give this a try!

Visited with my wife and one year old son.
Easy to get around with a pushchair.
Nice pleasant temperature in the caves so if its hot outside it's a nice relief.
Lots and lots of mushrooms! If you want to learn about mushrooms then this would definitely be a must see but for the rest of us it ranks as an interesting experience!
We combined our visit with the Pierre et Lumiere which is pretty much next door (200m walk). You can get a combined ticket for them both.
