“That many mushrooms?”

Musee du Champignon

I visited this museum on a previous trip, many years ago, and found it fascinating! I never knew there were so many different types of edible mushrooms
, let alone see them growing in a cave!

A small word of warning for those who venture in, out of the hot sun - you may find it suddenly chilly?!

Visited this musée and found it very interesting but hard to see them producing commercial quantities as a chef. Expensive for French sites such as this.

Very informative museum for all. Not a waste of money at all as far as we were concerned. Apart from the appeal to those of us who belong to the Dorset Fungus Group, there were some very informative notices and displays on wild mushrooms. Then you get to see the most beautiful Pleurottes, "Champignons de Paris"(button mushrooms) and Shitaki mushrooms being cultivated in the caves. We even bought some mushrooms to eat later as an extra course for our evening meal. Very tasty. What's an extra course or two when you are eating in France!

Got there in the middle of the week, when the place is opened to groups that made reservation only ( at least off season)
Unfortunately there was a school group there and they didn't mind us accompanying them, so we did get inside for a very boring and pointless tour which was overpriced and took about 20 minutes we could spare.
Don't do the same thing!
Avoid this total waste of money and time

Hey it's just a museum about mushrooms but it is very informative and you can see hundreds of preserved species and many species actually being cultivated. Only 8 or 9 euro.
