The hotel is unusually laid out and the rooms very well equipped (tea, coffee making facilities - excellent). Comfy bed and good ensuite. Rooms opened out onto a large open lounge area with books etc. There's a kitchen area at the disposal of guests stocked with wine should they want to purchase a bottle. Although we couldn't have an evening meal there, the owner was able to recommend local restaurants. Breakfast (seated in a large oak barrel!) was excellent with good choice. The owner was helpful and friendly. Lovely village location and large garden.

We stayed here for 6 nights. It is set in a quiet village 5 minutes from Doue La Fontaine, 20 from Saumur. It is a converted winery. All the furnishings and linen are made of natural materials - stone, jute, cotton etc. There are interesting quotes about wine on slates dotted around the sitting room, as well as original and specially commissioned wall hangings of flora and fauna painted on jute/hessian. The common areas are a sitting room with extensive library and comfortable couches and seats, a beautiful garden with loads of fruit trees (the cherry trees were dripping during our stay and we were invited to eat a few on the way to and from the car each day - delicious). , a badminton court, trampoline and games room. There is also a well equipped kitchen if you want to prepare your own meals or picnics with hob, microwave, fridges etc. it includes stocks of wine if you run short - you write it on an honesty list and it is added to your bill. There is free and secure parking on site. The room was well equipped with kettle, tea extra blankets, nice toiletries, shoe shine etc. The bedding and linen are all of very good quality. Everywhere is spotlessly clean. It is a really quiet and relaxing place to stay. The breakfast is simple and delicious - croissants, bread, natural yoghurt, fresh organic fruit, cheese, butter, freshly brewed coffee, cereal and a good range of teas. There is a shop with local products on site - the prices are the same as at the producers so you can happily stock up on site. It was a fabulously relaxing and comfortable place to stay. The standout though was the host and his staff. From our original arrival to departure, Phillipe was a fantastic host, patient and helpful with our halting French(he has excellent English too) , full of good advice tailored to our tastes and overall made it feel like a home from home. He is unfailingly helpful and attentive and clearly keen on making every guest's stay not just enjoyable and relaxing, but really special. It is clearly a vocation, not just a job for him. The same attitude is found among all the other staff, including the lady who served us at our first breakfast and the ladies who do the rooms. The decor, service and setting are all of an exceptionally high standard and we would definitely go back. It would also be a nice place for families - the kids would enjoy the space in the garden after a day driving around the Loire. You can stay in a gypsy caravan or a room for viewing the stars. There are two restaurants in the village - one fine dining, the other more local and rustic. Both fine. All in all, couldn't fault anything.

We stayed here for one night en route from the south of France back to the ferry. I wish we could have stayed longer! When we arrived we were very warmly welcomed (in good english to match my shocking French!). Our room was clean, spacious and well furnished. There was plenty of room, even with our baby's cot in there.
There is a little kitchen which guests can use, which is very handy when you have a baby. We were recommended a restaurant nearby, but it was easier for us to stay in the hotel. We got a pizza from the little shop in the village!
There is a lovely garden, which our baby loved crawling around after a long time in the car.
Lovely breakfast, with tasty food!
Really lovely stay, and would love to go back!

I don't have enough wonderful things to say about our stay. I only wish we could have stayed longer. This property is beautiful and very unique, as it once was a winery. Our family of 5 were very comfortable here and Phillipe was so warm and welcoming. He was very informative, giving us suggestions about the two restaurants in the town and other attractions near by. The village is very charming, as are the people that live there. Loved the stocked kitchen and breakfast in a wine barrel. Breakfast was fabulous, and the homemade organic jams were delicious.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Family Room, it had two bedrooms one with two twin beds and the other with a King...

This was the place my wife found most relaxing in France - away from the cities and small rooms. Our host, Phillipe, was excellent. His mission is to ensure his guests are very well taken off. Excellent! Brilliant place to visit the wineyards - but a little out of the way from the other major sites. If you want a change of pace, go for this !

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful B&B in late October and we were absolutely delighted with the property grounds, personable service by the owners, delicious breakfast, room facilities, and other amenities. This logis is about 30 minutes south of Saumur in the small village of Le Puy Notre Dame. It takes a while to get there from the narrow country road but once you reach the end of the village you will see the logis in front and think " wow, this IS a nice place!"

We would highly recommend staying at this beautiful logis. The guest rooms are tastefully decorated, spacious and impeccably clean. At night you cannot hear a sound - it is that quiet and peaceful. Breakfast consists of fresh pastries, yogurt, local jams, fruit, coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Have your morning meal in the barrel seating area - it's very private and fun..

The property owners also added a few private little "cottages" around the back of the main facility and these small guest houses are equipped with everything you need to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Since this B&B is remote from Saumur, either prepare a light meal in the nice kitchen facility or try one of the 2 restaurants in Le Puy. The new restaurant that just opened serves delicious, well-prepared fresh upscale food, but be warned, the service is very slow and poor.

A very memorable stay! Merci!
