“Love it!”
Reviewed September 6, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We just love this place, so much so we return year after year to stay at La Grange d’Henri with the owners Gerald and Sarah-Jane; they are such excellent hosts and will do all they can to ensure your stay is a perfect as possible. The Gite itself is clean, well appointed and in an ideal position for touring the Loire. It is therefore the perfect place to unwind, especially in the evening by sitting on the terrace with a bottle of wine recommended by Gerald perhaps or by taking a walk through the vineyards to the rear of the village. Love it!

“Beautiful location, fabulous hosts”
Reviewed August 14, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We have just spent a week at this property and would wholeheartedly recommend it.
It's a perfect gite for two, well equipped inside with a private terrace outside. Locally there's lots to do if you feel the need to leave the tranquility of this place.
The real added bonus for a holiday here are the fantastic hosts- Sarah Jane and Gerald who went out of their way to make us feel at home with nothing being too much trouble.

We have recently returned from an extremely enjoyable stay at La Grange D'Henri. Sarah Jane the (English) co owner was a terrific host, on hand if needed but never intrusive. La Grange D'Henri is well equipped & immaculate with decking outside for late night dining if required. Whilst there are no shops in the village a large supermarket is only a few miles away. There is however an excellent Belgium restaurant only a few yards from the gite which whilst expensive is worth every cent (esp the crepe, suzette!!). For eating out Saumur has a wealth of good restaurants including one run by Sarah's husband which is highly recommended.

“Perfectly formed!”
Reviewed July 29, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We slipped through the electric gates to the smile and welcome of Sarah-Jane and a perfectly presented gite in the gardens of their house and in a small and wonderfully quiet village, larger towns are not far away. It was a genuine pleasure to discover a real home from home. All the irritations of some other places were notable by their absence - a kettle that didn't take all day to boil, a cutlery draw and cupboards full of decent quality implements and pots, a fridge, cooker and toaster made by someone you've heard of, a rack of tourist leaflets that were all from the current year. Silly things but they all reassure you that you're in good hands. Upstairs was a superbly comfy bed with lovely sheets and a spotless ensuite.
There were travel books to browse and a small DVD collection to watch if the mood took you.
Sarah-Jane offered us some great recommendations of places to go and see - we did nearly all of them. Evenings were spent eating in, enjoying the local wine and watching the sun go down over the fields.
Although the gite was near their house, well positioned planting effectively offered privacy to enjoy our own space. If we're in the area again its certainly somewhere we'd happily return to.

Liked best: It didn't feel like it was put together with a collection of random items and at the lowest possible cost.
Liked least: Sound from the TV was a bit tinny and the WiFi signal in the gite could be a bit patchy - nothing to spoil the holiday though.

“An unforgettable week in the Loire Valley”
Reviewed June 21, 2013 for a stay in May 2013

It's always a gamble as to whether accommodation booked online from
thousands of kilometres away will live up to your expectations. No
problem with La Grange d'Henri: set in a small village next to a lovely
old church, away from traffic noise, with a pretty garden and secure
parking next to the gite and easy access to Loire chateaux and other
tourist attractions, the Grange combines comfortable modern tasteful
interior with charming traditional exterior. It's an ideal place for couples to stay.
Sarah-Jane and Gerald were ideal hosts: they were so welcoming and
nothing was too much trouble for them. Their children, Augustin and
Constance were delightful, and even Biscotte the cat welcomed us back
home every evening!
Gerald's wine tour introduced us to the best wines we have ever tasted
in France, and we were able to purchase some to drink at out leisure as
we sat on our terrace. Our dinner at Gerald's Bistrot les Tontons in
Saumur was an added bonus and our tour of the wonderful troglodytic
caves on the Beaumont's property was an unexpected treat! We were so sad
to leave, and we have returned to Australia with such fond memories of
our time chez les Beaumont! Thank you, Sarah-Jane and Gerald!

“Escape from the rat race - a little piece of heaven in the Loire valley”
Reviewed October 27, 2012 for a stay in October 2012

We chose this gite on the basis of previous reviews and it really lived up to its reputation. What a wonderful welcome! Sarah-Jane and her lovely children were there as we arrived to greet us and make sure that we had everything we needed. The gite was spotlessly clean and furnished to a very high standard. The bed was very comfortable and the bed linen and towels good quality.

It's also very homely. After a busy day enjoying ourselves in the beautiful countryside, we cooked for ourselves most evenings in the well equipped kitchen and then settled down to watch a couple of DVDs. Just what we needed to recharge the batteries - a real luxury!

Peace and quiet is guaranteed and with the roller blind (electrically operated) on the velux window in the bedroom closed, it was all too easy to 'oversleep'! Another luxury!! Being in the countryside in a small village, it felt very safe but the gite is accessed via electronically operate gates and the gite has its own electric shutter, so whether in or out, you have that additional sense of security.

Sarah-Jane really makes you feel at home but is not at all intrusive. She has an excellent knowledge of the area and, not knowing the area at all ourselves, we took as many of her recommendations as we could fit into our two weeks and so glad that we did.

You do need a car but in two weeks from our home from home base we were able to visit beautiful chateaux (notably Chenonceau, Chinon, Breze, Anger, Rivau & Montreuil- Bellay), the home of the Cadre Noir in Saumur, Fontevraud Abbey, some wonderful old historic towns incl Tours & Richelieu. We also spent some time simply enjoying the various rivers themselves and also enjoying the wonderful food and drink. Exactly what we hoped and more!

Wonderful from Sarah-Jane's warm welcome to the last day when she waved us off, having supplied us with a bag of fresh home grown walnuts - allowing us to take a little bit of heaven home with us.
