There was something to celebrate and Le Gambetta offers grandeur enough in its settings.
Attention to detail, fine wines, creative food .. With the Menu "L'Atelier Des Saveurs" of 5 courses plus amuses and acompanying wines per glass and with a fine Crémant to start, and an even better digestif, the bill came to an even € 300:- for two, which is certainly not cheap, but also not unreasonable.
The meal served its celebratory purpose very well, even though, perhaps, this kind of fusion inspried cooking would not be my first choice ...

My wife and I visited le Gambetta during a recent holiday in Saumur. We had read the reviews and were looking forward with anticipation to our visit. I have to say we were not disappointed. Although the restaurant was lacking in atmosphere, the food certainly had the 'wow factor.' The presentation was fantastic and the taste sensations were just sublime. The staff speak excellent English so everything was explained in detail so you can really appreciate the experience. All in all we had a great meal and a very memorable evening.

very nice restaraunt and great food! It costs about 60 euro and there 5 dishes. The food is absolutely great but probably service could be a bit more friendly

Having read all the positive comments I looked forward to eating at this restaurant. With my companion we duly arrived on time as requested by the owner. We were kept waiting outside in the rain until they opened several minutes late. No apology or acknowlegement not a good start. Only 3 tables occupied yet a full 20 mins before we were asked what we would like to drink. Mise en bouche arrived pretty but sadly not a marriage of flavours more like a divorce in progress with lawyers slugging out with each other. Starters were average I think as it did not leave an impression. The main course, I had the pork and my companion the fish clearly an experiment with the said water bath treatment that seems to be in every kitchen, not a success and once again pretty but tasteless. The dessert was an absolute disaster one of the worst I have ever tasted, if you are going to go down the molecular road then you should learn how to drive before embarking on the journey, The restaurant has a Michelin star Im not sure how but good luck to it. The staff aspirations are greater than the experience not one to be revisited by yours truly.

We went here for Easter lunch as a family and had a wonderful meal, from the lovely amuse-geules through the truffles with coffee. We only took the "small" menu as we overdid things last year and left feeling overfull. We ordered the wines to complement the different dishes (available for all the menus by the way) and were very happy with what we drawnkl. We were particularly taken with the egg variations starter and spiced pigeon breast as main. We also enjoyed tasting various sparkling wines (local) from Louis de Grenelle, having tried most of the other local vintners over the years, but the Irrestible lived up to its name! Will definitely come back here next time we are in the area and recommend it warmly.
