“Historic ambiance with human touch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2012

We stayed in this lovely little hotel in July. The spacious and charming Blue Room was perfect for a family with two little kids. It felt relaxing right away, and our hosts Romain and his sister tried to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The location was great for exploring this part of Loire Valley, being right by the river was an extra perk to our stay. The hotel located in an old restored house which creates a special historic ambiance, a must have feature when trying to explore this opulent region. The value is excellent, the only comment I have is regarding breakfast: it is overly modest (coffee with bread and croissants), adding yogurts and eggs would have been a wonderful touch.

Room Tip: The Blue room faces a side street and therefore is very quiet.

We have just spent two nights in the fab Patio Saumur. The rooms were beautiful and historic and the creaking floors just added to its charm. Our host, Romain was very friendly, speaks English and made sure that everything went perfectly. We loved staying here and will be recommending this beautiful bed and breakfast to all our friends! Thanks Romain - from your fellow Remois (et lesbeaux parents!)

I love Le Patio and was very happy I remembered it having first stayed here three years ago. It's close to the town of Saumur with its lovely restaurants, bars and good shopping. It offers excellent value for incredibly spacious rooms. We stayed in the turquoise room the first time which has a view of the Loire AND a view of the chateau, the Loire room isn't quite as lovely but still a great size with a lovely river view. Romain is incredibly sweet. The breakfast room/bar is a gorgeous space and effortlessly stylish. If you feel the need for a trouser press and sky tv then this isn't the place for you but if you'd like a huge room, in a great location with a bit of personality the do stay here.

just spent 4 nights at Le Patio and it was great. the building is lovely with a super courtyard where we were plied with local wine and overwhelmed with hospitality by Romain his friends and by Orson the dog (who must have been in the hospitality business given the attention he applied)! The style, location and hospitality are all really lovely but it is an old building and individual rooms do differ but from what we could see all were large and accomodationg. Everywhere was absolutely spotless.
Breakfast was absolutely fine and the only downside was the stay wasnt long enough!
if you are looking for a lovely French and non corporate experience this Le Patio has everything going for it

Room Tip: they are all nice but dont expect corporate standardisation they are individual "shabby chic&qu...

We have just spent 4 nights at Le Patio. We arrived having spent the whole day traveling from Gloucester by car/ferry/car so we were extremely tired on arrival. Our reception couldn't have been more welcoming but our first impression of the accommodation was very slightly disappointing. Our bedroom was large and had everything we needed but had no wardrobe, only a hat stand to hang our clothes on. After a good night's sleep in a comfortable bed we enjoyed a very good traditional breakfast of french bread, croissants and jam and we began to see everything in a different light. Our host was again charming we were asked to treat Le Patio as our home, we loved the interior decor which was very 'shabby chic' but in a very nice way which suited us very well. Le Patio is a converted Post Office with a beautiful courtyard interior with plants tables & chairs. Le Patio is situated on the bank of the river within easy walking distance of restaurants, the town and the castle and if we returned to Saumur we would definitely stay again at Le Patio.

Room Tip: Our room on the second floor on the front but if you like the window open the traffic noise could be...

Spent two nights at the Le Patio, and it was fantastic. Apparently the building in which the B&B is located is over 300 years old, and it truly has a lot of character. It was very clean and centrally located.
Romain the owner was very helpful and even invited us for some wine tasting in the evening. Would definitely go back again.

Room Tip: Try to suits, they are massive.

We stumbled across this wonderful place to stay in Saumur whilst driving along the Loire river. The proprietors are amazing. They could not do enough for us. The courtyard takes your breath away. The character of an old building makes you feel like you have stepped back in time but at the same time, it is modern and relaxing in the breakfast area, courtyard and bar. We could have stayed for days, just enjoying the town and the area. The road was a little busy but our room was on the side of the building and under the majestic turrets of the Castle. You could walk everywhere in minutes. We cannot recommend this hotel enough... charming, clean, fantastic.....

Room Tip: Rooms away from the road are quieter and all the different themes brilliant.
