We spent an overnight stay in the Chateau in August 2011 and found Edwin and his partner to be very welcoming. We had a great dinner and breakfast experience in the Chateau and look forward to staying again if in the area. The kids enjoyed the large grounds which surround the house. Great relaxing stay experienced. Thanks

The bed and breakfast Chateau is located just outside of Saumur, right inbetween Tours and Angers. From the location of the estate most great sights of the Loire valley are within easy reach. Within a 20 minutes drive one can visit the beautiful city of Saumur, Fontevraud Abbey, Chateau de Montsoreau, Troglodyte Caves, Chateau de Montreuil-Bellay and many more. Within a 30-40 minutes drive are Tours, Angers, the Chateau de Villandry (with its beautiful gardens), Chinon, and many more. The region is also rich in wine producers which offer wine tastings directly on their estates. It must be difficult to find a better launch pad to explore the Loire valey. However, to take full advantage of the huge amount of travel destinations of the region a car is recommended.

The Chateau itself is located in a small private park which can be enjoyed for relaxation. From the well-kept park one has a nice view to the Chateau of Saumur. In the surroundings of the Chateau there is an extensive forrest. The highway linking Tours and Angers is about 3 minutes away giving perfect access to transportation routes. The whole estate is situated in absolute tranquility, only the birds break the silence. Perfect for relaxation.

The small Chateau was built in the 19th century. It offers a nice and bright salon and a cozy dining room. Both rooms are open for the enjoyment of the guests. In the dining room breakfast is served every morning. The guest rooms are all very spacious and bright. The bathrooms have just been remodelled. We were allowed to use a small kitchen in the guest room wings, which comes in handy if one does not want to go out for dinners every night. However, the availability of the kitchen appears to depend on the room that has been booked. While it is not a super luxury lodging, everything is very well taken care of and very clean. We would say the quality of the guest room equipment is above average compared to other bed and breakfast places. It is a place with lots of character and offers a unique charm.

Edwin, the owner of the chateau, is an extremely pleasant person. He does everything he can in order to make his guests feel welcome and well. He gave us numerous nice tips on locations to visit, checked the weather forecast for us, offered us access to the internet, offered us to use his own bike for a short trip,... He is probably one of the most dedicated bed and breakfast owners in France! He really helps to make the stay the best it can be for his guests!

All in all we really enjoyed our stay and are happy that we chose this place to stay among the many lodging options the region has. We can definitely recommend this place to everybody searching a bed and breakfast place from which to explore the Loire valley or just have a nice, relaxing, peaceful holiday. It is super good value for money for people who want to have the experience of staying in a small chateau for an affordable price.

Having spent the last 12months travelling to places all over Europe, and having stayed at all sorts of places, this chateau remains my favourite.

The chateau is located close (10mins drive) to the lovely town of Samur on the Loire river. It is owned and run by Edwin and his two daughters. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed into their lovely chateau. Ther are extremely friendly and kind and Edwin goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable.

Some parts of the chateau are a bit old and run down however for me this adds to the amazing charm and history of such a beautiful building. The rooms however are all very modern and newly renovated. They are large and spacious and beautifully decorated. We had a large canopy bed and an enormous bathroom. I was staying there over the new year with my partner and we basically had a whole wing to ourselves. We had access to a small kitchen which was great. it was tremendously peaceful and quiet and the countryside around the chateau is lovely for walks.

Breakfast is served in the main dining hall which is very atmospheric. Edwin was more than happy to show us around his property and share some of the fascinating history with us. It made staying there so special as it did not feel like some commercialised chateau/ hotel but was more like being part of his family. Edwin will do anything (he even helped out by putting some washing through for us) to make your stay enjoyable. My partner and I recommend this chateau very highly- either for a short break or longer stay. I would definitely love to go back and would recommend it. It is not a lavish chateau, but it is very charming and very special.
