INTER HOTEL du Grand Monarque

If you want a clean room with comfy bed and no other demands, then this hotel ticks the boxes as its location is ideal for a stroll into the heart of the city. Also handy for the rail station. The staff are courteous and will do their best to help. Some rooms are very small, but all very well looked after. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that, and there's no other communal areas of note, so as a pit stop its ideal.

Central location - 5 mins from the Cathedral and opposite Church of St Clement; 2 minutes from Botanical Gardens , friendly and efficient staff , warm room, reasonably priced, clean, lots of restaurants nearby. Breakfast extra : didn't have it but looked good !

Room Tip: Just be careful : no lift!

We stayed here for one night (a Thursday night) and we would not return. The hotel facade is dated and inside the hotel does fare a bit better but needs an overhaul. The rooms were clean. It was about a 5min walk to the old town. The biggest issue we had was the noise. The hotel is located beside a bar. We returned to the hotel that night at approx 11pm and the noise coming from the bar next door was out of control. We went up to our room and it sounded like someone was banging a large sledgehammer against the wall. This continued on for approx an hour or so until we couldn't take it anymore and we went down to complain and to ask to be moved ( we were on the third floor at the front of the building)- when I went down the gentleman working on reception advised me that the police had been called and sure enough the noise ended about a half an hour later. There was alot of noise on the street after and if you are looking for a restful place to stay, avoid this place.

After climbing winding stairs with luggage was surprised how spacious the room was, with direct view of cathedral opposite.

Unfortunately there were roadworks/alterations taking place when we were there but would still recommend because of room quality and helpful staff, as well as reasonable price, main reservation being no lift.

I arrived in Nantes after cycling down the Brest/Nantes ship canal and this hotel was conveniently located close to the centre of the city, ideal for some sight seeing. My welcome was warm and I was able to store my cycle securely in a lock up garage to the rear of the hotel. Climbing the steep stairs was a struggle with my panniers at the end of a long day's cycling, however the room was comfortable and air conditioned. Breakfast was self service and acceptable as was the price for an overnight stay in a major French city.

Hotel is reasonably priced and in good location,it looks rather tacky from the outside, but you will be pleasantly surprised when you enter. Some rooms are rather small and noisy, others are roomy and quiet!
Breakfasts were excellent, with self service and good coffee! Only critisism would be that it is not recommended for anyone disabled or has trouble with stairs, there is no help available to carry cases up steep winding stairs plus lots of uneven small steps in different locations.
