We went on the English-speaking tour of this fabulous chateau. It is a fascinating place to visit and is superbly furnished. The theatre is especially interesting. The guided tour was informative and clear. The grounds are good to walk around and have a picnic. The visit was well worth the money at only €10. There is a wine tasting session at the end of the tour, but we weren't particularly impressed with this. Afterwards it is worth the time to go and visit the village or have a walk along the river. Parking is easily accessible and there is a car park quite close to the chateau.

We have visited this Château several times, the first time back in 1996, during a very cold Christmas break. Since then much has been done to develop the site for visitors by the current occupants, the Marquis de Brissac and his family. The tour is very interesting historically, and one of the highlights is the theatre, constructed for an earlier Duchess who fancied herself to have Thespian talent. The grounds are superb and are often put to use for special events, such as the annual Easter Egg hunt on Easter Sunday, and occasionally for Hot Air Ballooning (this year's French Championship is being held there at the end of August. We run a B & B just up the road from the Château and we always recommend a visit to our guests. Don't miss a tasting of the excellent wine produced in the castle grounds.
This Château definitely deserves a place among the finest the Loire Valley can offer.

The Chateau de Brissac is a beautifully maintained chateau, nestled in the Pays du Loire. It is 10 € to take the tour, and it's well worth it. The rooms are full of historical and fascinating objects, and the tapestries are incredible.

Although the chateau has opening and closing hours, the tours are guided. However, that tour departure time are not listed on the website. There was an English-speaking tour at 13:00, so if you are an English speaker, you might call ahead to ask about that.

There is a crèperie at the top of the hill from the chateau, which was wonderful. We went thre after our 11:30 tour, and it was packed. After our lunch, we knew why.

Although the guided tour was in French you were provided with printed information in English and it was easy to follow. The tour was interesting and enjoyable and finished with wine tasting in the cellar where you could buy the wine produced there. The gardens were extensive and worth a walk around for wonderful views of the Chateau.
