“Not child friendly”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

We went there as a family over Easter holidays. Staff were most un-child friendly which was a pity as our grandsons love looking at the art. Had to ask for childrens pack to go around the gallery.
Ate in the cafe which was child friendly and good value for Angers.

“Two museums in one”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

This started out as an historical museum, then turned into the art museum. The collection was worth a visit if visiting Angers.

“First, you have to take the history lesson”
Reviewed July 27, 2012

So they make you go to the historical exhibit before you go to the art museum, which would be really annoying except that the historical part is really good. My favorite was a Boucher I hadn't known of, with putti working on the arts, and a modern piece which had a bowl of goldfish in front of the painting. Completely satisfying, and not crowded at all.

“Very attractive”
Reviewed May 30, 2012

Not a lot of "unique" art work but quite enough to make a visit worthwhile. Beautiful architecture. Well preserved area. A couple of interesting "sculptures" by Niki de St-Phale in the gardens.
