“Superb modern hotel - good value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2010

Stayed overnight on the journey from France. The hotel was easy to find after a pleasant journey through the Loire valley. There was a secure underground car park - but mind the pillars while manoeuvring.

Efficient check in and warm welcome.

The room was large and modern and the bed extremely comfortable. There was a coffee machine available in the room, but unfortunately did not work. Good lighting in the room - ideal for working / reading - and an hour's free wi-fi access.

The bathroom was spotlessly clean with one of the best showers I've experienced in hotels - very hot and powerful. Bathroom was well equipped with complimentary items - slippers, bath robe, shampoo, soap, moisturiser and vanity set. Large mirror in the bathroom and two further full-length mirrors in the bedroom.

Breakfast was extremely good. The waiter greeted us and offered us a table by the window overlooking the park. He offered us fresh tea / coffee which he brought to the table. Good selection of continental breakfast items (bread, pastries, fresh fruit, ham, cheese etc) which was topped up regularly. A water bath was available to boil your own eggs and a juicer with a selection of citrus fruits - the freshly squeezed orange juice was delicious!

I would be happy to stay here on an overnight stop or even for a longer break - very comfortable, clean and good value for money.

Please note that there is a 10 / 15 minute walk into the centre of the city (castle and cathedral) although there is a nice park next to the hotel.

(Was Marine Hotel) Current roadworks make it impossible to park nearby - you have to park 300 metres away. Also rooms very hot and WIFi asks intrusive questions. But Novo restaurant was great.

We loved this hotel. Lovely rooms, very modern and great Bathroon! Very pleasant reception (spoke good english). Free parking (or at least we didn't get charged) through booking ith Expedia . We stayed in quite a few Mercure hotels on our trip and this was our favourite. Little bit out of main centre, but not too bad and a great Irish bar opposite (if you like that sort of thing!). Excellent value as well.

I slept soundly in this comfortable room that overlooked the Jardin de Plantes. The staff were very helpful, the parking was easy to find, though don't take your big SUV into that garage! The breakfast was a great selection, and could have been found close by for cheaper (€11/person) but was well worth the view, and the selection. The location is within a 5 minute walk to the center of the old town, and there are local buses very close by. There are excellent restaurants nearby.

I stayed in the Hotel Mercure Angers Centre in May for 1 night on Business. The check in was very fast and the receptionist spoke very good English. The room was quite small due to the strange shape, the carpet and desk area looked worn but overall the room was clean. there was a Flat screen TV with 20+ channels (only BBC News 24 for the english guest) the bathroom had plent of cosmetics and towels and was very clean.
I used the resturant on the evening that i stayed which was very good, the meal Cost €22 for a started, main course with 2 drinks. I also had breakfast in the hotel which was well stocked with the usual Continental Breakfast buffets.
The hotel is built ontop of the convention center with the Park next door and plenty of secure parking underneath.

I recently stayed at this hotel for three days whilst on a wine tour in the Loire. I was expecting a little more than a travelodge but was nicely suprised. The room, although fairly small, had recently been refurbished and had a flat screen tv, enough hanging space although not enough hangers, and drawer space. The bathroom was fine except there was a curtain not a screen which I prefer.
The lobby, bar and dining room were all modern, bright and clean. We ate in the restaurant one evening and the food was very good and very well priced too. The breakfast buffet was adequate, not brilliant and the staff seemed a bit flustered at breakfast especially on the second day when the hotel was full. Overall a very pleasant stay and would certainly stay there again. The hotel is next to a very pretty park with goats and exotic birds! It is also only about 10 minutes walk from the town centre and chateau.

  • Liked — newly refurbished, very clean and quiet
  • Disliked — shower curtain!

This was a lovely hotel that was right on the edge of the centre of Angers. It was about a 3-5 minute walk to a pedestrian area with loads of shops and restuarants. (A good variety of reasonably priced restuarants -- not too touristy.) On the other side of the hotel was the Jardins des Plantes, which was a beautiful park with lots of trees.

The desk staff was always very friendly, and spoke excellent English. The breakfast (which was included in our rate) was very good, and had a huge variety (including eggs and hot/cold meat).

Our room was a standard 3* hotel room, again with a view of the park. The bed was quite confortable, and there was no issue getting a non-smoking room with a king bed, even though the hotel seemed full. The bathroom was fine, and they had fancy-seeming shampoo and soap.

Parking was inluded in the rate and was immediately below the hotel.

The only odd thing was that they were in the process of replacing their air conditioning system, so we didn't have AC and the ceiling of the hallway was all torn-up. Not a big deal since it wasn't hot when we were there.

  • Liked — Breakfast
  • Disliked — AC being replaced
