Valley of the Monkeys is great crac! Two of us drove down here from Poitiers and spent the day wandering around. It could be better signposted but with the help of a map is not THAT hard to find. There is excellent parking, very helpful and friendly staff throughout and it is NOT expensive. Monkeys of all sorts and sizes are everywhere. There are even areas where they roam free and are beside, above and behind you. A new experience for us. In this park one can get up-close and personal with the inhabitants. The silverback gorrilla ( which you will NOT get up-close and personal with ) is an impressive gent. The chimps are entertaining. The baboons are a wee bit intimidating. This is a truly different experience of non-native wildlife which enthralled us. There is a restaurant which, thankfully, does not charge an arm and leg. I would heartily recommend this place. It could be done in half a day but I would recommend that you take your time, be relaxed and give it a whole day.

I went with our 3 kids and they loved being able to see the monkeys so close especially the little ones which swing across your head and run accross the path infront of you. The park has a lovely set up and it is beautiful to walk around.
There are lots of little play areas for the kids to have rest bite in and run around and several picnic areas. The food is limited in the restaurant but you can get the usual chips or sandwiches in an attraction. It is clean and not too busy.
The keepers are very helpful too offering information and interacting with the kids to help them learn a little about what they are looking at.
There are several feeding times and the dangerous animals are on islands surrounded by moats there are some benches so you can sit and watch them and get some great photographs.
There are lots of toilets for the little ones situated all around and a gift shop for your soverneigns of the way out. There was plenty of parking available and for 5 of us we paid 45 euros as the 2 youngest 2 and 3 were free so it wasnt too expensive.
It was very hot so take lots of water with zipperable bag although the staff provide suitable bags if they feel yours is not up to the job of keeping out the monkeys.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to La Vallee de Singes . We decided to go along just to keep the children amused but in fact it turned out to be a fantastic day out. It was well worth the long drive to get to it. The only complaint that we could make is it is not very well signposted and was a little hard to find. Once there although it was well worth it . We all had a great day out . If in the area then it is a must see attraction .

We have now been to vallee des singes, 4 times and enjoy every visit. Each visit has been in May.

You get so close to so so many monkeys it is amazing. If you follow the route in order the firs you come to are squirrel monkeys and they are very curious about us! They have rope ladder runs that go across the footpath and you get to see them rigth up close. Similarly if you get to the lemurs at feeding time, you get really close and they even run between your legs to get to the food.

For most of the other monkeys you don't get so close, so you know that the people in charge know what is appropriate for each species.

The keepers are really friendly, too.

The whole park is tree covered so you don't get too hot walking through, and there are plenty of benches for sitting down and taking everything in. And there are picnic benches away from the monkeys so that is reassuring.

One of our party has limiting mobility, but all the paths are step-free. We haven't needed to use a wheelchair but I'm guessing it is wheelchair frendly - there have certainly been many push chairs.

The only disappointment is the coffee at the cafe near the chimpanzees - it's from a machine, and is quite disgusting, but we found that in a lot of french attractions. So if coffee is important to you take your own.

I would recommend taking water with you, and a well zipped rucksack to carry it in. Some of the monkeys are great opportunists!

I thoroughly recommend the Vallee des Singes if you are anywhere close!

8 of us travelled for an hour and a half to visit this attraction. Although I was happy to go along, I had no great expectations..........it is fantastic!
The setting is perfect, the surroundings alone would be a good day out, add to that the stars of the show and you shave a memorable experince!
We went at the end of June and could not believe how quiet it was. the staff are great, happy to talk about the animals in their care- all of whom seemed very very happy little monkeys!

Highly recommended.
