“Like exhibiting the crown jewels in a local town museum”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

This is a unique opportunity to make one of the really great motor museums in the world and yet you somehow feel the potential has not bee realised here. Don't mis-understand me, for petrol-heads this is a must with many interesting and historic vehicles on display.
The Le Mans 24 hour race has a unique position in motor racing history and I feel it deserves better presentation for example check out the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart or the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena, instead it presents so many of its exhibits unimaginatively lined up behind roped off partitions.

Hello Steve,
Thank you for your comment
Please do not compare the Musée des 24 Heures-Circuit de la Sarthe to the Porsche Museum or Enzo Ferrari Museum. The Musée is ruled by the local departement and not by an automobile brand. As you said, the permanent exhibit is unique because this race is unique.
Hope to see you again

“The home of motor sport. Great museum”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

The museum is a must do and not just for motor racing enthusiasts. The museum houses a great collection of cars and has some really interesting videos playing to explain the history of Le Mans through the ages.
The museum houses old vintage, experimental and racing cars. The range of cars is excellent and are easily viewed and photographed. A trip around the closed section of the track is possible on special tourist buses at a small cost. You can however drive the street sections of the track at your own "Pace" .
A highlight of our trip to France

“A Racing Enthusiast's Dream”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

This large museum next to the Le Mans race track is a racing enthusiast's dream. From the racing hall of fame to the up-close-and-personal views of automobiles dating from the late 1800's to the present, the history of racing at Le Mans is on display for all to see and enjoy. We visited in mid-August and experienced crowds wherever we went; but this museum was not crowded which allowed us to view the cars from every angle and take as many photos as we desired. There is also a snack bar and gift shop where you can purchase tickets to actually go out on the track. This was a great way to spend a couple of hours on a hot summer afternoon.

“Great museum for a couple of hours”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

Situated next to the track this modern motor museum is new and very well laid out, it was pretty quiet the day we visited, only 20 Euros for a family ticket. Cars and a few bikes from early motoring history through to the modern day Le Mans race cars. Our 2 teenage boys were fascinated by the exhibits as you can get up close to each of them - I had no idea that France produced all these cars

“A must for any car lover”
Reviewed July 11, 2012

An assortment of vintage and modern cars, plus other history of racing. I visited after the 24 hour race was over so there was not a lot of people, giving me plenty of opportunity for photos. It was nice to be able to get so close to some amazing cars.
