“lots of atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2014

there are a lot of original buildings and no garish modern additions. It was quiet, could be because we were in May. Many nice restaurants.

“Extends further than you think.”

We parked down behind the new Pathe cinema and clambered up to the cathedral , then along the ridge above the old walls. Masses of bars cafes and studios.Every now and again you get a glimpse over the town's roofs. (On either side)
Go down to the river and there are very peasant gardens beneath the chequered walls..

“Old town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2014 via mobile

Well worth a visit. A walled old town full of medieval buildings. There are also Roman walls and a beautiful cathedral. If you are interested in the Plantagenets it is a must see - the birthplace of Henry II.

“Cobblestones, walls and historic buildings”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2014

A walking tour of the old town is highly recommended. Built on a bluff with the Cathedral ringed by the medieval walls, the views afforded are worth the hike. For travelers with cars there is underground parking nearby beneath the city hall.

“Fascinating and well preserved”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2014

The guide books recommend two tours: the beautiful medieval houses in the old town, or the walls. I suggest the walls tour - you get to see the houses anyway, and the names of the people who owned them are no doubt well known in France, but most of them were unknown and therefore not significant to us.
