We had visited the Abbaye and were looking for somewhere to have lunch. Walked a little way out of the sqare and found Chez Teresa. Looked unusual, so we went in. Turned out it was an English couple who served a limited menu lunch (don't know about the evening) in an extraordinary ambiance of shelf upon shelf of tea sets etc. Three courses for 12€50. Two French ladies complimented Teresa on the presentation of the food (just to show I am not being biased!). Delightful room upstairs available for B and B. Give it a try!

After a few days in France and having planned a visit to the Abbaye, I decided I needed a fortifying REALLY english pot of tea...and I was very rewarded!

Teresa asked me if PG Tips was OK and it was.....a lovely big pot of tea with fresh (not UHT) milk and a delicious piece of syrupy ginger cake made (as Teresa told me) with olive oil....very good indeed.

The restaurant was very quirky and crammed full of china, and 'nick nacks' and other quirky things to purchase.

The restaurant offers vegetarian food which must be a delight for those seeking this oddity in carnivorous France! A real gem and a lovely home style pot of tea!!

After a facinating morning enjoying the Abbey and village of Fontevraud an English tea at Chez Teresa was just what was needed! A wonderful range of homemade cakes and teas our visit was very refreshing. The service was excellent and the English host and hostess very welcoming. We will be eating tere again on our next visit

Chez Teresa's is a small "English" tea shop in the beautiful, historic town of Fontevraud l'Abbaye, on the Loire. After a fascinating visit to the Abbey we dropped in for lunch to the small tea shop, just a few yards from the Abbey entrance.

With an interesting vegetarian menu to choose from we enjoyed a most tasty quiche with salad followed by a couple of mouth watering cakes from Teresa's selection. With everything cooked fresh it was a most enjoyable lunch - but really, the stars were the cakes - VERY moorish!
