While dinning at the Gill restaurant which was recommended by our hotel, we thought that it is a 2 star Michelin restaurant but soon found that its other restaurant of same name is.

The Gill cafe is excellent in every way from choice of menu to service. We had the 3 course fixed price dinner and enjoyed it so much that we had lunch at the 2 star Michelin restaurant the next day.

Also at the 2 Michelin star restaurant, we throughly enjoyed the 3 course fixed price lunch. In between each dish, we were surprised by complimentary dishes.

Both the cafe and the restaurant are very highly recommended and we would go back again definitely when in Rouen.

Probably the best, although not the most expensive, dinner we experienced in our three weeks in France. A Michelin two star, and it shows. The décor, service, food and wine were all just wonderful. Absolutely faultless.

We had a very very fine dinner there with my parents and my fiancée. The 2 Michelin stars and 4 Gault&Millau hats are well deserved : this is classical French gastronomy at its best.
Everything from the service to the food is top notch, yet the atmosphere is casual enough for everyone to feel welcomed and at ease.
As it was my first time at Gill, I chose to stick to the "classics" of the chef, which are the Pigeon à la Rouennaise and the Mille-feuilles : God was I right ! Both were really stunning in terms of texture, finesse and taste.
That is real 2 stars cuisine, no doubt (and I've tried quite a few others).

We drank a great bottl of fairly-priced Volnay with the pigeon, and it was just perfect.

The wine list is very interesting, most wines being fairly priced (except for Bordeaux I think).

A great dinner, well worthy of its accolades !

2 Michelin stars. This is sophisticated gastronomy of the highest order. Everything is impeccable and the desserts go on for ever. Quite formal service, but not unfriendly. Excellent wines too.

This was our first visit to any 2 star michelin restaurant so our expectations where quite high. Although the food was exceptional and beautifully presented its maybe not the most exciting food you can have. This is just a personal preference as I enjoy being challenged when it comes to this kind of fine dining experience. That aside the food was of such a high quality that you could never find fault with that. Great wine list as well. Although my wife pointed out that it took a while for our drinks to come and there where several occasions where our glasses where empty before the staff noticed and would refill them. Since they keep your bottle of wine of the table you cannot refill it yourself. Which was slightly annoying as thats not what we expected from a restaurant of this caliber. So not a perfect night out but great food and a lovely restaurant.
