Good hotel for the price, but not a great hotel. The good: Clean and well maintained, helpful staff, good parking, good value for price. The bad: disconcerting sewage smell in lobby (perhaps temporary?), pre-fab bathroom units feel small and cheap, quite a long walk to city centre, free wifi is sloooow.

We stayed here in August as a stopover. It took ages on arrival to be shown how to access the car park. This seemed due to there only being 1 person on reception. We really could have done without the delay after having been on the road all day with 2 hungry children. when we got to our room it stunk of stale tobacco smoke, in fact the whole of that level stunk! We called reception and were told that we it did not smell and a machine would be sent up to get rid of the imagined smell!!!! luckily my husband speaks fluent French so was able to argue that we were having a new room on a non smoking floor. have to say that the receptionist had a real" could not care less" attitude. luckily we did get a new room but I fear that the British family who had the misfortune to arrive after us got the stinky one! so just be warned when you book it, unless you smoke of course!

Stayed in this cool hotel for about two week. in June 2012. The staff were very nice. The room was well equipped and nice aesthetics. Dish washer. Microwave.Hot stove. Though i had to pay to use cooking utensils which i didn't like very much. It should be free.
Complimentary breakfast cool. The location was close to Seine River and some shopping malls. University of Rouen was also close by.
Had a nice time viewing complimentary movies on the TV when ever i had the time to.
I rate it a cozy 3 star.

I'm not real sure how to rate this hotel. This is listed as a 4 star hotel, but I would say it is more like 3 star. We stayed here two nights.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. The rooms were very modern looking and clean. Beds were comfortable and WiFi was adequate. So essentially, this is perfect for a place to sleep. They had a decent fitness area with a treadmill, elliptical, and stationary bike.

But, for a 4 star, I was disappointed. Especially since we typically stay in cheaper 3 star hotels. Lol.

Street side rooms are noisy, noisy, noisy!!! Did I mention that it's noisy? Traffic, trains, boats, bars. Breakfast was not worthy of a 4 star restaurant. Not even worthy of 2 star. Everything was prepackaged and stored in a cooler. Not what we were expecting. Free parking is available along the streets; paid parking underneath the hotel.

The sites of Rouen are within walking distance, but still expect to walk about a half hour to the cathedral. There are a couple of eating places along the river promenade, but that is about it. Anything else decent is located near the city center.

Again, I think if this was a 3 star hotel, I could have given it a near perfect review, despite the road noise.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms on the street/river side. You will have traffic, train, boat, and bar noise.

Rouen is a v pretty city and a good stopover for that reason- this Novotel has the usual nice rooms, good breakfast, good service. Its not quite an easy experience as others as it was not that easy to find (new area so satnav hard to programme) and the parking is not great, there are a very small number of spaces in underground secure park which are likely to be full, so you are left with on street which was ok but not ideal. Again for a stopover not having a restaurant can be a hassle but there is a Macdonalds 5 mins walk away, and also a shopping centre with restaurants and a playground (Docks 67) which would be worth seeking out with an evening to kill.

Stayed here en-route south. Good sized room with a pull across screen on a track for privacy. This is great for families as kids can be in one half and you in another. There is a microwave and a mini-bar sized fridge, ut equipment is limited to two small wine glasses and mugs. Consumables i.e. tea and coffee are very basic with 1 tea bag and two coffee and one small bottle of Evian - not enough for one adult, never mind any more. Just across the park area is a Carrefore mini supermarket and that is well stocked with things to eat after microwaving and they are quite god. Reception will give you disposable plates and cutlery. The bathroom was well equipped with both bath and shower. Our £89 rate included breakfast and the quality was good even if the range is limited. They do breakfast boxes for kids, full of sugar to keep them hyper for the rest of the day! They contained coco pops, capri sun orange drink, croissant, and a fruit puree pouch. The adult breakfast was good overall and worth eating. They show traffic lights of the busiest times and we just got there at 7.45 and it was fine, no crowd and empty tables. When we left to go into town at 9.15, the place was rammed with families eating and standing, many round tables for two.
The parking was ten euros and worth it as very secure and clean, but there is quite a bit on street surrounding the hotel. The walk into town is 15-20 minutes and at the top of the gardens across the road on the right is a little play park for children. There is a great fruit, veg and fish market beyond the cathedral on Saturday mornings.
Bear in mind restaurants here don't start serving until 7pm, so go prepared if you have very little ones like us.
Overall we would have no hesitation going back here - very quiet and good location with nice riverside area across the road. Its not easy to find initially, but it helps if you stay out of the underpasses.

Room Tip: Rooms on river side have nice views.

Nice hotel, conveniently located, nice comfortable room and perfect for family. Only slight downside was that car park has height restriction so car with roof box won't fit, but plenty of parking on surrounding streets.
