Qualys Hotel Rouen La Berteliere

This hotel is in a very pleasant suburban village on the edge of Rouen but close to the motorway network. There are pleasant grounds in which to enjoy an al fresco drink after driving and the rooms are well kept and pleasant. The staff welcome was very good and the food in the restaurant at dinner good if a tad pricey. Unfortunately breakfast though an adequate range was decimated by a coach party prior to our arrival. Overall a good choice for Rouen or en route.

We stayed here twice, on the down and back from the Dordogne, paying 100 euro B&B for two. At just off the A28 its a good location.

When we arrived for the first night they told us the restaurant was full and we could not eat - not even a bar meal! No amount of persuasion was going to change their mind, gallic shrug of indifference and told to drive into Rouen (about 15 awkward minutes away) to find a restuarant or go to bed hungry. We learnt from this and cleverly booked a table for two for the home leg!

On the second occasion we were concerned to see two very large coaches parked up - this hotel is not big and these monsters carry a lot of people..... Anyway we enjoyed our pre booked meal in the restaurant, expensive, average quality but welcome after along drive. and had a good nights sleep.

We like to relax over breakfast, but this was chaos - both sets of coach parties arrived simultaneously and stripped the buffet. The poor girl in charge of breakfast was on her own,and run ragged trying to cope. We managed to grab some toast with the last two pieces of bread and a couple of grilled tomatoes and sat in the corner. The coach parties departed as if by magic, rising as one to get to the awaiting buses on time and the buffet was slowly replenished, but by then we were ready to go.

We will probably give this place a miss next time, as other people say it's an oasis, clean, pleasant surroundings but too much competition for food!!

Hotel La Bertelière in Saint Martin du Vivier near Rouen is situated in a lovely garden with trees. It is quiet.
We booked into a 3 star hotel but with the new system of awarding stars in France, this hotel has become a 4 star hotel.
The service provided by the staff is worthy of a 4 star hotel.
However there is no lift and no air conditioning in the rooms. This is very uncomforatble in hot weather. The room is all right if you are staying for one night or two but it is not very big if you want to stay much longer.
Now the advantages of this hotel:
the staff are wonderful - friendly and helpful at all times
There is relatively good access to wifi. There is a minibar in the room. There is air conditioning in the restaurant and the bar of the hotel. It works well when it is on but the restaurant gets very hot when some members of staff turn it off.
The breakfast is fine although there is not a good choice of fresh fruit in my opinion.
The dinner is satisfactory although I would have preferred more starters with salad.
Overall this is probably a good hotel in the winter but we would not stay there again in the summer because our room was so hot.

We stayed here while driving down from Calais towards the Dordogne. The hotel was pretty easy to find in a residential area but we did not enjoy our drive through Rouen due to the number of roadworks and dodgy drivers.

Check-in was quick and efficient and our room was a reasonable size. Everything was very clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, we arrived too late for dinner, but there was no problem with us bringing food into the hotel. We had drinks in the bar which was practically empty.

We ordered room service for breakfast the next day to save time as we were hoping to make an early start. It was quite expensive, but had a large selection of pastries, fruit and yoghurts some of which we took with us to nibble on the journey.

For an overnight stay, this hotel is ideal. As i'm not sure what else is in the immediate vicinity, I probably wouldn't want to stay for longer than that.

This Hotel is located in a residential area and as a result is peaceful. I note it was once part of Best Western, but is no longer under their banner. The rooms were clean and the grounds were well kept although a little restricted (probably due to the location). We were disappointed with our visit for a couple of reasons. Firstly, whilst the food in the restaurant was to a good standard, the service is best described as glacial (We are seasoned travellers and whilst we know the French like to linger over a meal, I am certain even they are not prepared to wait for the next ice age) The dining room staff have made a study of the best way to ignore a customer. Secondly, despite having made a confirmed reservation by E mail, the rate had been amended on their computer after the booking. So if you do book and visit, make sure you take a printout of the confirmation. They did correct the bill with less than good grace. Would I use this hotel again? As a one night stop over yes, for longer, I doubt it.

Room Tip: Try for a room in the hotel away from reception as the main door bangs at night.

We stayed at this hotel both on our way out and back on a group car trip. The hotel is a standard Quality Hotel with comfortable rooms with all you need. Before we arrived there was some confusion as we had to chose between two set menus due to ou being a group. This meal proved OK but not as good as I would have expected. When we were offered the same menu on our return, there was a little rebellion and we were eventually offered a very pleasant menu at a reasonable cost. There are no other restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, but there are pleasant walks from the hotel. We appreciated the effort made by the hotel as were were the smallest of three groups in residence.

Located in a quiet location on the northern edge of Rouen, the hotel is ideal for those stopping off on the way to and from Calais. We were very impressed with the standard of accommodation and small finishing touches. But horror, no air-conditioning. It was quite hot when we were at the hotel and we had to have the double windows open all night for ventilation. The hotel does offer fans from reception. Thankfully, apart for some very rowdy guests, who were drinking outside the front of the hotel until 10.45pm, the location is very quiet and once they had gone to bed we have a very peaceful night. We were very disappointed that the hotel staff did not take action stop the noise being made by the rowdy people, as it was evident that they were disturbing other guests. There is good on site parking.

Room Tip: Beware of the lack of air-conditioning, particularly in the Summer months.
