“Good little hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2014 via mobile

We stopped at the Dandy overnight on our way to the South of France. As stated in previous reviews the car park is quite hard to find and very tight, especially when carrying 2 bikes on a boot mounted carrier.

The 2 bedroom suite we had ordered was at the back of the hotel up a steep staircase. The lift is tiny but adds to the charm of this hotel. The room was clean & tidy but we was disappointed to find that the coffee was not included in the room rate!!

Overall this hotel was ideal for stopping at for 1 night so we could do a bit of sightseeing in Rouen, however, it does need some updating to make this hotel value for money.

A bijou little hotel in a good location for the Joan of Arc centre etc in Rouen, it has only three rooms per floor and 5 floors. Its lift is not the smallest ever made but must be close to it. Our room was nicely furnished with antiques. Parking is both limited in spaces and the spaces limited. Book in advance and if your car is bigger than a Golf you'd be better off at the main car park about 300m away.
The saviour and soul of this hotel is Vincent, the manager. He spoke excellent English to compensate for my poor French. He visited England when a younger man and was so bowled over by the kindness he met that he tries to return this upon his guests.

This tiny hotel is wonderfully located in the heart of old Rouen, a stones throw from the old market place and a short walk to the cathedral. The rooms are comfortable and charming with antique furniture and good linen.
Secure parking is an added bonus in a city where parking is always a challenge. It is the perfect place as a stopover on your way south or as a centre to explore Normandy.

Our family of four have stayed just 1 night in a family room. We have found the owner of Hotel Dandy welcoming, who spoke good English, and helpful in guiding us to main attractions. However the hotel was extremely hot even with 2 fans in rooms, which we kept on all night. The decor is old and in need of redecoration both rooms and bathrooms. I don't think we will stay again. The positive aspect is the location right in the town centre.

Room Tip: I staying chose colder time of the year, it is too stuffy and hot during hot days.

We got to visit more than one room before deciding which one we'd like to stay in. It was a hard choice. Each was unique and attractive. The location couldn't be more perfect - on a quiet pedestrian street. The bedroom was "dandy" just as the name implies. The bathroom was modern and convenient. Good Wi-Fi connection in the room. Some really sweet touches in the breakfast options -- but I won't spoil it for you.

I would definitely stay here again.

Nice friendly hotel which gets away from the faceless hotel chain feel. Good central and safe location and good value for money. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would recommend for anyone on a budget.

The hotel is located at a good spot. It is close to the main boulevard, while it is on a pedestrian street so it is calm. The cathedral and city center are at a 10 min walk. It is a small and old building. The furnitures are also of traditional french style. The rooms and furniture are old but they are clean and well-maintained The breakfast offer is quite narrow.
Overall, I think it is a good choice considering the price.
