We spent three nights at this very central, very French hotel right beside the Cathedral walls. Reception staff were friendly and helpful and our room which was large and very comfortable overlooked the lovely tranquil courtyard. We travelled by train and took a taxi to/from the station which was quite reasonable and also visited Giverney by train and bus. The location of the hotel is great in that you have easy access to all the historical buildings and great shopping as well. Lots of cobbled streets, so comfortable walking shoes are essential.

It was fantastic to stay so very close to both the cathedral at Rouen and the Eglise de Saint Maclou. Staff were very helpful and spoke English despite my dubious attempts at French. I was given a helpful map that we couldn't have done without, of the city. The rooms were clean and fine for our overnight stay. The only downside was the toilets, no doubt as a result of ancient plumbing. Let's just say they took some working out! The breakfast was marvellous - lots of choice and kept us going for hours. the children especially enjoyed helping themselves to large amounts of the free sweets at reception. Parking in the public carpark a few streets away was remarkable cheap, even overnight.

When our taxi driver dropped us off at the opening to an alley and told us the hotel was down the way we were a bit taken aback. What we found was a friendly staff and a decent hotel. The room was small and quaint but clean and adequate. The toilet would not flush well at all (a major drawback) and the bathroom was VERY small, the WiFi was also a bit sketchy. What this hotel lacked in comfort, however, it made up for in service and location. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was an amazing buffet. Best of all we were just steps away from the two famous cathedrals, the Cathedrale de Rouen and the Cathedral Notre Dame of Rouen. We were also within walking distance of the train station and the Joan of Arc historical locations. Bottom line here is if comfort is more important to you than location don't stay here, if location is more important than comfort this may be the best Rouen hotel to stay in. If you stay here make sure you explore the area behind the cathedral. These Medieval buildings are super interesting.

An old tutor style building located just across from the amazing gothic styled cathedral ( as the name suggests). Rooms are quintessential old style French, complete with lovely wallpaper, European pillows and a comfortable queen bed.
A note: the lift goes to the fourth floor only of five floors and is accessed across the courtyard from the reception, up six steps. On the plus side, security is excellent.

Room Tip: Please note the restaurant was not used and this hotel does not have a swimming pool!

travelled with friends and fortunately the hotel map was first class, so hotel easy to find. at first it seemed it would be in a noisy part, but no bells and quiet during night. receptionist very helpful. the only drawback was our room was on the 3rd floor, and being pensioners it was very difficult to carry bags up winding stairs. room adequate, pleasant courtyard garden to relax. couldn't be nearer cathedral and hotel advised on a very good restaurant l,auberge.
good value for money all round. but check room position before booking. the breakfast was excellent.

Room Tip: avoid having to take luggage up flights of stairs.

We aksed for a triple room wich was nice even if the third bed was not an excellent one for a young adult. The hotel is located in a quite street and very near to the catedral and center of the city which is very convenient. Nice breakfast but wifi was not relaible in our room.

We came across this charming little French hotel when exploring Rouen's medieval streets. From the outside the Hotel de la Cathedrale is located on a cobbled narrow historic street and has lovely grand wooden doors at the entrance. We went in to ask the room rates for the night, not having looked the hotel up on Trip Advisor (!) and were told they had a small or a large double available. We opted for the small and it was ideal; filled with a combination of traditional French furniture (dressing table) and modern amenities (flatscreen tv). The double bed was large and comfortable, I experienced no noise during the night, only the church bells around 8am.
The bathroom is fairly basic but everything we needed. There were also tea and coffee making facilities which was a bonus. We found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is located very centrally and there are lovely restaurants and shops within minutes' walk.
Had I read the reviews of this hotel before staying here, I may have been put off, however I would highly recommend this as a base from which to explore what this beautiful city has to offer.

Room Tip: We were in room 12a and experienced no noise.
