An old tutor style building located just across from the amazing gothic styled cathedral ( as the name suggests). Rooms are quintessential old style French, complete with lovely wallpaper, European pillows and a comfortable queen bed.
A note: the lift goes to the fourth floor only of five floors and is accessed across the courtyard from the reception, up six steps. On the plus side, security is excellent.

Room Tip: Please note the restaurant was not used and this hotel does not have a swimming pool!

travelled with friends and fortunately the hotel map was first class, so hotel easy to find. at first it seemed it would be in a noisy part, but no bells and quiet during night. receptionist very helpful. the only drawback was our room was on the 3rd floor, and being pensioners it was very difficult to carry bags up winding stairs. room adequate, pleasant courtyard garden to relax. couldn't be nearer cathedral and hotel advised on a very good restaurant l,auberge.
good value for money all round. but check room position before booking. the breakfast was excellent.

Room Tip: avoid having to take luggage up flights of stairs.

We aksed for a triple room wich was nice even if the third bed was not an excellent one for a young adult. The hotel is located in a quite street and very near to the catedral and center of the city which is very convenient. Nice breakfast but wifi was not relaible in our room.

We came across this charming little French hotel when exploring Rouen's medieval streets. From the outside the Hotel de la Cathedrale is located on a cobbled narrow historic street and has lovely grand wooden doors at the entrance. We went in to ask the room rates for the night, not having looked the hotel up on Trip Advisor (!) and were told they had a small or a large double available. We opted for the small and it was ideal; filled with a combination of traditional French furniture (dressing table) and modern amenities (flatscreen tv). The double bed was large and comfortable, I experienced no noise during the night, only the church bells around 8am.
The bathroom is fairly basic but everything we needed. There were also tea and coffee making facilities which was a bonus. We found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is located very centrally and there are lovely restaurants and shops within minutes' walk.
Had I read the reviews of this hotel before staying here, I may have been put off, however I would highly recommend this as a base from which to explore what this beautiful city has to offer.

Room Tip: We were in room 12a and experienced no noise.

Our recent experience with this hotel was a disaster. The street looks like a war zone with all the construction underway for the Abbey (workers start early so there is no sleep in), staff were very unhelpful, the location of the hotel is in the seedier part of Rouen with the main hotel doors locked at 9pm, the Wifi was not working - even though we complained server times and was assured by reception staff "it is only because everyone is using Wifi at this time" the hotel is very hard to find with GPS due to the streets being vehicle free, the nearest parking is approx 300 metres away and finally the bed was very uncomfortable.

Sorry to say I could not find one thing good to say about this hotel. PS It is very unusual to give a negative review especially considering that I have provided over 80 review previously - so it must be bad.

Room Tip: Yes - try another hotel
