Owner description: A 1979 masterpiece of modern minimalist architecture, this dramatic church is meant to symbolize the search for 'absolute geometrical purity.'

We stumbled upon this site per accident. The area immediately outside the Church is somewhat mystical, especially the rock where she was burned upon. It has the feel of being inside a graveyard, but it's out in the open. The church itself has a unique architecture - reminds me of a wizard's hat. The church is located a few steps from a market - also worth a visit.

My husband and I went to this landmark and visited the garden spot, which marks Joan of Arc's death. This modern church is built on the site where Joan was burned at the stake. Outside of the church is a marker in a flower garden which marks the site where the young leader was killed at the age of 19. On the opposite corner, outside of the church are some old ruins/stones from prior centuries of buildings. We did not pay the fee to go inside and tour the modern church, as that didn't interest us as much as the historic grounds.

We spent two nights in Rouen and enjoyed our time in the town. The more modern Church of St Joan of Arc is located near the market area. Outside the church is the site where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake. The interior of the church is delightful with the ceiling made of timber and resembling an upturned boat. The stained glass windows are amazing having come from a 16th century church which was being demolished. It is a wonderful contrast to the much older cathedral and I would recommend a visit to this church when you are in Rouen.

This is interesting for a church. It is built on the site of Joan of Arc's demise, and next to her memorial and is modern. It has no alter and it is shaped oddly for a church; that's what makes it interesting. The windows are lovely.
