Description: It is at 37 rue Saint-Etienne des Tonneliers, a quiet little backstreet that runs parallel to Quai de la Bourse, that Gill has opened its "little brother". Linked to the main restaurant by a simple backyard, the two restaurants are not only close in terms of distance, but also in terms of character. Gilles and Sylvie Tournadre have entrusted the success of Le 37 to the capable hands of Gill's former sous-chef, Sylvain Nouin. The same principle when it comes to the food, but in a more minimalistic setting with a reduced menu and the focus resolutely on "world food". Le 37 customers can enjoy light dishes, such as the chicory and parmesan crumble, served with young spinach shoots in nut oil, the salmon mi-cuit in a light cream with pickles or the caramelised knuckle of pork with lemon.

The proprietor of our B&B recommended this restaurant and made a reservation for us. That was a good thing as it was full and others were turned away. We enjoyed the food because it was French, but with originality and twists of other cuisines. We had dishes that had Mexican and Asian influences and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The service was good and we would recommend this restaurant.

This small but delightful restaurant just up from the quay near Gallerie Lafayette was full the night we went, so booking ahead is essential. The staff were friendly and helpful. I had warned them that I couldn't eat lactose and there were a number of dishes available without compromising the flavours. There is a comprehensive selection of French wines, as well as wines by the glass or carafe. There was a set menu and a small a la carte. I had a delicious jellied minestrone with prawns, flavoured with star anise and dourade with asparagus, followed by sorbet and fruit salad. The amuse bouche were tasty, the coffee and carafe of Crozes Hermitage excellent, and the bill smaller than expected for this quality. So highly recommended.

A small restaurant with a limited menu, but the food was divine and inexpensive for the quality enjoyed.

The restaurant is small, about 26 covers and on the night we eat, no one spoke any English. However, we enjoyed a warm welcome even though we had not booked.

I would describe the cuisine as modern French rather Normandy, but excellent in any language. If again Rouen, will return.

Five days in Rouen in September and we researched which restaurants we wanted to visit. We are only going to write about ONE - Le 37. Why ? Because it impressed is and the others didn't (apologies to all the great Rouen restaurants we didn't get around to). We dined at Le 37 twice in our short stay. It was so good the first time we just had to go back and were not disappointed. We're always impressed by a short menu, great composition and ingredients coupled with haute cuisine on the plate. Especially good when the price is not pretentious. If you are in Rouen, treat yourself to Le 37. It's best to book. Peter & Irene, Walberswick.

If you go to Le 37 do not expect a Normand menu, neither a large selection of dishes. The concept seems to be a quality selection 6 main dishes with prices that are convenient.
Unfortunately no veggie dish. The food is abundant so I would recommend to choose between the starter+main or main+dessert.

It's quite small and should be more lights.
To conclude a nice place to try:-)
