“3 star Ibis”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2012 via mobile

The rooms and the bathroom are much bigger than the Ibis standards' one. The breakfast was more than enough. Definietly it can be catogisied as a 3 stars hotel (now it has just 2). The very tidy hotel is situated on the main road, just 10 minutes walk from the city center.

All in all it is an ideal place if you want to discover Normandy staying in a really nice hotel and do not paying much money on lodging. I would come back in the future.

This was our first stop after driving over from England. It is very easy to find just off the motorway but not noisy. Views over the river and. Close enough to the town to walk in. Took 10 minutes to walk into the central square. Parking under the hotel at 50 cents an hour and is secure. Nice clean hotel.

This Ibis is easily accessible if driving to Rouen (as we did on this occassion) and was certainly easy to find and the rooms were very reasonably priced clean and i'd say larger than other Ibis's I've stayed at.
The car park as others have mentioned was incredibly tight and I was glad I wasn't driving at that point as the 4x4 we had only just fitted in the car park
This hotel is slightly odd in that its attached to a Mercure and once inside there is very little boundary between the two (so you could easily wander in and out of the corridors of the Mercure)
The reception and bar / waiting / breakfast area is particularl "Ibis like" in stark contrast to the much more "up market" Mercure a few metres away on the other side of a glass door.
That being said both were let down by their bars - we bought 3 beers in the Mercure bar and it cost €24 euros which is quite a lot for not overly great beer - they only had one beer on tap so we moved on quite quickly! later on our trip we tried out the Ibis bar only to find that a. it was still very expensive and b. only seemed to sell Kronenbourg and Grimbergen and that was your lot !
never had breakfast so can't comment on the food but overall whilst it was a cheap and convenient place to stay it did lack a little "je ne sais quoi" (well we were in france !)

Room Tip: we had ordered 2 x twin rooms and ended up with 2 x double rooms - worth checking this (if you'r...

We had booked this hotel as a one night stopping point between the D-Day beaches and CDG airport, so were not looking for luxury, and received a two-room special. The hotel was fine for our needs.

While the set up of the individual rooms was a bit unusual (my Dh equated the bathroom to a ship's bathroom), we found the beds comfortable and the shower good. The front desk staff was extremely helpful upon check-in, telling us about the hotel's resources, making a recommendation for dinner, and assisting us in checking in for and printing out borading passes for our flight the next day.

We did encounter two negatives. When we booked the special, it was made clear that the rooms would not be adjacent - this was not a problem as we could split one kid with one adult. What was a problem was the two rooms they gave us: while close to each other, one of the rooms was in a separate little alcove at the end of the hall that contained only two rooms accessed through a separate locked door. The first room (not in the alcove) was larger with a beautiful view of the river. The room in the alcove was smaller with a view of the building. We could not understand why we were not either given the two rooms in that alcove or two rooms close to each other in the main hall. Because of the extra door, we could not just go knock on the room door to communicate with each other, and did not have two separate cell phone numbers. It wasn't a huge problem, just a bit of a hassle.

The second issue was with the parking. As others have said, there is underground parking with a very low roof. The spots were tight getting into. Construction was going on, so the parking was charged by the hour rather than a set fee (which actually saved us money.) When we checked out of the hotel in the morning, no mention was made of the parking - we assumed we would pay in the lot. But there was no one there, nor a machine to pay, nor any explanation of what to do. We could not leave the lot! We kept putting our ticket into the machine and something would come up in French, only a bit of which we could understand. I finally went back into the hotel to ask, as was told that I needed to pay for the parking when we checked out. Why that wasn't done at the time, I do not know. The woman did not mention parking at all.

I would stay here again as it is in a great location and the rooms were fine for our purposes, but might not stay here if my main intent was to spend several nights in Rouen.
