Late in the evening we arrived in Le Havre and went looking for a cheap hotel. In hind sight we were very glad that the Ibis budget hotel was full. We came across this hotel and were afraid that it would not be a cheap night’s stay but to our surprise we heard that it would cost 97 euro’s for a family room. My first reaction was: oh no our 2 teenagers have to sleep together on an awful small sofa bed but they assured us that there were 2 single beds for them and breakfast was free for them.
With parking fee’s (about 4.50) we were spending 10 euro’s more than the cost of the Ibis budget but this hotel was most probably about 10 times better, if not more!
The room was large and luxurious, some-thing that we do not come across when we stay in a family room. The beds of our teenagers was a sofa bed BUT they were 2 singles and though of course close together our son and daughter did not have the feeling that they were sleeping next to each other, the beds were comfortable and a good size.
Also the toilet is separate from the bathroom and there were 4 large bathtowels already in the room, so often we have to ask for 2 more towels when the room is being used for the 4 of us. So top marks for this room which is used for families.
Breakfast was good though the system they have to boil your own eggs does not work so well, we put in 2 eggs for about 5 minutes and they were nearly still raw. Parking is about 5 minutes walk away. I read that some-one mentioned ‘parking issues’ in the evening having to walk with the family from the parking garage to the hotel, I can understand that, but we checked in at the hotel while my husband parked the car.

Very friendly staff.
Spacious family room with twin beds within a sofa surround (huge improvement on small sofa beds offered for 3 & 4 guests in many French hotel rooms we've encountered).
Clean and secure public underground carpark nearby, which had just enough headroom to get our Vauxhall Zafira with roofbox into.
Enjoyed the Hotels healthy family meal in Hotel's Restaurant on first night - choice of chicken or salmon - we had a large piece of salmon, plenty for 4 adults/teenagers and as many chips and salad as you wanted for 45 Euros (or whole chicken other option) with which we were pleasantly surprised.

If you can justify paying the relatively high rate, go ahead. Beds are comfortable, everything is new, and staff is very nice. Breakfast was a bit below average for a Novotel, but very nice nonetheless.

As with most hotels of this type in France, the washroom was in a separate room from the toilet

My only issue was that the parking was located in a different building and the walk back from the car to the hotel at night with the family was a bit scary.

This was our first time staying in France so I wasn't sure what to expect. We were picking up a cruise that was docking in Le Havre and needed a place to stay. What I liked about the Novotel was the cleanliness, location, and friendly staff. The location of the hotel was convenient to walk to the mall across the street, local restaurants, and the harbor. The rooms were a lot smaller than what I was used to, but I believe that is common for European countries. The full size bed was nothing more than 2 twin beds pushed together, however, it was comfortable and we did not have trouble sleeping. The room was supposed to be equipped with an iron but one was not provided in our room. This facility also did not have a pool or relaxation area. Overall it was a nice stay and for being American everyone was very friendly to us.

Stayed here in May for two nights to visit the Normandy area. The hotel is very modern and clean and the breakfast is to a good standard with continental and cooked choices. The reception staff here are very friendly and helpful and my limited french fortunately did not have to be used much! However be warned access to the hotel is restricted because of the works to install tram lines and you could be in for some lengthy diversions and delays! Parking is in a nearby station car park and when you emerge on to the one way diversion system it is very confusing with little signage, this is likely to be in existence for several months and we were not warned in advance, you know now!

Room Tip: We were on the second floor and the room faced the main road into the centre but we were not disturb...
