After visiting Normandy and the sites related to WW2, coming across St Joseph's Church was really quite something, it was so unlike everything we had come across earlier in the trip. the scale of the church was incredible, its defiantly worth seeing, and inside is a description with photos of Le Havre after the war.

This is concrete at its worst, ugly and grotesque. Inside and out there is nothing appealing about this building or the surrounding area. I would reccomend that you give Le Havre and its concrete hideousness a miss and spend time in one of the many other far more beautiful towns that France has to offer.

I am not particularly a lover of concrete blocks so the whole post war city of Le Havre does not appeal a great deal to me, although it is a world heritage site. The church, which was a listed building within 10 years of being built, is somewhat odd looking from the outside, but certainly distinctive. However, the interior, with its coloured glass windows is absolutely outstanding and certainly a must to visit if you are in Le Havre. The windows are plain coloured glass rather than the more traditional stained glass, but the whole effect, coupled with the interior height is stunning.

The interior of this church is pretty stunning. It's modern, and very different from what you'll find elsewhere in France. I prefer the older cathedrals (like Notre Dame in Paris), but was very happy to visit this one as well -- when it's sunny outside, the stained-glass windows are fantastic.

Just incredible. Vertiginous. Spectacular. We took a ton of photos.
