I usually avoid Best Western hotels, but in Le Havre there are not that many choices, and the alternatives were closer to the railway station (read: less centrally located) and not necessarily more promising, and for a single night, I try to be not too difficult. I made the right choice: The Best Western is in a perfect location, my corner room was nicely appointed, clean and comfy, with a modern and well equipped bathroom. I do not know if it is due to the fact that I had a corner room with two windows, but the room layout was more like a small studio than a hotel room, which is a nice and welcome change from the usual generic three star room. The decoration has indeed an arty touch (although I don't share the enthusiasm others here showed for the elevator), the staff was friendly and helpful, and the entire experience quite good, both in terms of comfort and value.

Room Tip: I liked the corner room.

We were travelling back up the Normandy cost having been on a road trip through France, and had not booked anywhere to stay, so we had a look at Trip-adviser and found this hotel. On arrival we got a parking space right out side the entrance, and went to check in, we were welcomed by very friendly staff member. My main concern was can I leave my sports car outside the main door but we were told that the only parking for this hotel is around the corner on a meter, as it would have been on a meter outside the hotel. I reluctantly moved my car and found the spaces round the corner. We were informed that as soon as the building opposite the hotel is finished parking will be available in a multi story car park. On our way back to the hotel from parking the car we were quit taken by how nice it was with lots of bars with people enjoying the the sunshine and we had already spotted a restaurant we fancied to eat in later, lots of nice shops as well. We then made our way up to the room via the lift which is great fun (I won't give it away!) The Art is on the room doors as well, the room was fine and made all the better by having a balcony with table and two chairs with a fantastic view over Le Havre. We had a kettle tea and coffee and a bottle of water. Bathroom was adequate nice and clean too. The bed was comfy and a very good breakfast set us up for the journey home. We did go to that restaurant and the sports car was fine over night €2.50. On the whole we thought it was lovely and will definitely be back as soon as the new car park over the road is finished.

My primary requirement for a hotel is a good night's sleep. The neighbors were a raging party, the hotel staff refused to allow me to move to a quieter area, insisting the noisemakers would leave to their night job soon. They left for an hour, then the party resumed from 11pm to 3am. Also, the room is small. On the overall it was a miserable experience and I would say you had best reconsider if you have booked this hotel for anything but an all night bash. As a bonus it is across the street from a Construction site, and is on a busy street.

Dear Sir,

In the name of the whole staff, I would like to apologize for the problems you encountered.

The quality of sleep and then the quietness of the hotel are of course two of our major concerns. Our receptionist on duty is there to ensure that everybody respects it. However, due to some indelicate guests who clearly lack of courtesy, it is sometimes harder to maintain silence.

Unfortunately, on the night you came, the hotel was fully booked, just like all the other hotels of the area because of the 70th D-Day anniversary, therefore it was absolutely impossible to move you to another room.

Our hotel is located in the very heart of the city centre, in an area surrounded by restaurants, bars and shopping centre and the traffic might be quite busy.

The construction site you mention is the renovation of the Volcan (theater of the town) wich will soon become a great cultural location with a theater hall, a big library, restaurants and a big underground parking right at the foot of the hotel.

Again,we are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay and we hope that we'll have another opportunity to prove you that your experience was very exceptionnal compared to what is usually.

Immensely impressed with the young lad on reception - most helpful. Hotel good, breakfast to the usual continental style - if they run out of food, they go and get some more from the patisserie down the road. Oh and love the elevator/lift What a hoot!! But the view from the room is of some modern art structure over the road. Hideous!!

Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for your comment which I transferred to the receptionnist who welcomed you. This type of message is the best reward we can get and it helps us to go on with our efforts to ensure the best service to our guests!

The structure you mention is the Volcan, designed by Oscar Niemeyer. I guess it can be a little surprising in the centre of the town but this will soon participate to the attractivity of the town centre with all its cultural amenities.

We're very glad that you enjoyed the little touch of humour of our lift and the buffet breakfast. We pay much attention to choosing the best products and ensure their freshness by working with local producers.

We hope that you'll visit us again if you come back to Normandy! Thank you very much again for your nice comment and see you soon!

A short break returning to Le Harve and staying at this hotel for the first time
Ideally located in the centre of the city overlooking the Volcan.

Very modern and quirky

The customer lift is a shower complete with rove and taps and shower rose

The rooms are spacious and well designed. Quirky door art to each room presents its self.

Staff were extremely helpful, especially with my appalling French

Full continental breakfast but with the added touch of sausage, Bacon and egg as well - much enjoyed

Bed was very comfortable and the views from the room with a Juliette balcony amazing

A return visit is a must

Room Tip: Room 51 was amazing

I've been several times to this provinical French port city, and have stayed at several hotels.

The strong points here: a big and comfortable bed, and --as other reviewers have noted-- a central location.

The hotel also plays up its postwar '50s architecture with artfulness, as photos of the elevator (disguised as something else entirely) and doors suggest.

But I can't share other reviewers' enthusiasm. The bed is a decent size, and comfy, but the room hardly had any space for anything else. There's no space to walk. Or even to open fully the window. Luggage and clothing had to be stored next to the bathroom.

The bathroom seemed to have been redone and had modern fixtures. But the state of repair caused concern: the toilet paper holder came detached from the wall, and the rod that held the shower head also came detached.

We stayed in Le Havre on our way to our river boat in Honfleur, booking on the Best Western site and choosing it for price and location and included breakfast. All of those criteria were proved accurate, but we were unprepared for the quirky art work on the doors of all the rooms, the whimsical elevator which looked just like a shower, complete with tile, shower head, faucets, and faux curtain when the doors closed. The room was spacious and comfortable. It had a very nice buffet breakfast and was well located for a walk on the beach promenade, and the city hall park where the tram stopped, and to restaurants and the Sunday market. We took the tram to the station for our bus to Honfleur. Only down side was the construction site across the street, but there was no activity on the weekend.
