“Charming stay in the center of town”
Reviewed November 6, 2013

This was our first night on a three week trip to France and Italy and it certainly started everything off on the right foot. Gorgeous grounds surround an adorable building. Rooms are all different but the one we stayed in was incredibly spacious. A little café next door provides the breakfast. It is just a short walk to the center of town and if you're driving, there's a small charge for a secure parking area. The price is great considering all that is provided. Hard to think that anyone would be disappointed.

Room Tip: The room over the small restaurant is extremely large and has a bath tub if you like soaking.

La Cour St Catherine is up a hill, hidden in winding back streets, so we were grateful to our satnav that led us there. We’d booked space in their garage and I’d highly recommend doing that – street parking places are hard to find, although we were lucky to have one open up right in front of the gateway as we arrived. And that, we felt, was just the beginning of our luck because La Cour St Catherine is a real find. You enter through what feels like an ancient gate into a courtyard simply bursting with trees and flowers, with little tables and chairs and benches dotted around up stone steps and under arbours. A perfect place to sit with an aperitif or to have breakfast in fine weather – you could be as solitary or sociable as you wanted. Our bedroom looked out over this courtyard and it was wonderfully serene and lush. We had one of the larger rooms, and it was immense - big enough to swing a parcel of cats and have a party with a large bed, a divan and comfortable sofa. The bathroom area was equally enormous with a beautiful free standing rolltop bath, a tiled walk in shower and cupboards in which I could have stored my entire wardrobe. Every single item and fixture was of the highest quality. Bookshelves in the bedroom/lounge had an eclectic and interesting mix of books, mostly in French – good practise. We slept well – it was really quiet. The breakfast room was below us but we weren’t disturbed – we tend to get up early but found 4 other tables full by the time we got down. each table was set with a board with bread knife and a whole baguette. Coffee was brought and we had fig jam with our baguette, and pain de chocolates as well. And I couldn’t resist the inviting tartes available to fetch yourself – apple and various others. Fresh and delicious. Can’t recommend La Cour St Catherine enough – such an oasis in a busy town. We walked down into town to find a restaurant in the evening – madame can recommend something to suit any taste, and suggest sights to see, too. worth seeking out.

Room Tip: we had one of the bigger rooms, cote ouest, looking out over the courtyard. it was enormous - warm o...

What a find! We loved this small, unusual B&B. The four of us had two delightful rooms, one on the ground floor near reception (large and well appointed) and the other a cozy, attic nest in one of the other small buildings that surround the lovely courtyard. While the rooms were great, the breakfast and the hosts made the stay special. We spent two nights so were able to enjoy the breakfast twice -- wonderful coffee, breads, home-made pastries, cheeses. The hosts, while not speaking any English, were warm, hospitable and did everything possible to make our stay fun and pleasant. We did have trouble locating the B&B so we called to say we were lost. It was very clear that the host spoke no English so imagine our surprise and delight to find him standing on the street in front of the B&B looking for us. He helped us park on the street and managed to give us directions to a restaurant. What a delightful man! We would highly recommend this lovely B&B to all!

A conversion of an old convent building, our room was a beautifully decorated suite with own kitchen, and lovely bathroom, decked out in subtle nautical splendour. Spotless, and truly comfortable. The only drawback was a lack of effective heating which the owners did their best to rectify as soon as we mentioned it to them. Breakfast in the old cider press room was astonishingly good. I could have stayed there for hours. The French breakfast pastry classics, local cheese, apples from the courtyard (it was October), Normandy cheese, memorable hot chocolate and 3 cakes to serve yourself from. As a certain flamboyant French TV chef would say, Oooh-la-la. The B& B is situated a 3 minute stroll from the church and old port, but in a quiet position. Parking was available in the nearby roads. Any drawbacks? Nun.

Where to begin? The hidden courtyard is so inviting; the buildings so old and full of character, yet modern facilities thoughtfully and sympathetically integrated. The breakfast is plentiful and fresh, with the wood burner in the background keeping us cozy. Our hosts were welcoming and efficient. We absolutely loved this place and can't recommend it highly enough. Will definitely be back.

What a delightful stay we had in Honfleur and a large part of our enjoyment arose because of our stay at La Cour Sainte Catherine. We received a friendly greeting on our first arrival and, by good chance, a free parking spot almost directly in front. Other nights we found free spots further along the street. Our room on the second floor was comfortable and roomier than we encountered in other locations in France and Holland. Breakfast was pleasant and more than sufficient - we returned to Canada with an appetite for fresh baguettes and great cheese, thanks to our stay. The central location proved ideal for touring this lovely town. While we enjoyed the attractions and bustle of Paris, our stay in Honfleur, with its rustic charm, and this great B&B, was an ideal way to introduce us to life in France.

We really enjoyed our stay at La Cour Sainte Catherine, situated so close to the centre of Honfleur. The atmosphere was very relaxed, and we liked our room on the second floor of the Pressoir. Breakfast was served on the ground floor, and was superb. Staying in the centre of town, and being able to walk to the restaurant and explore the harbour was appreciated very much.
