Hotel des Loges provides nice clean modern rooms in a very quiet central location. The owner and staff, who speak excellent english, are very friendly and helpful.

The beds are a delight to sleep in and the bathrooms functional.

Sadly because of it's location there are no particularly interesting views from the rooms to speak of as the refurbished old buildings are rather hemmed in by surrounding buildings. There is no air conditioning, which is not unusual in france, but I suspect if you were staying there in very hot weather it could be rather unpleasant for sleeping.

The breakfast was typically french and at €10 about typically priced. Croissants, white roll, cheese and jam, coffee or tea etc. I would have liked to see some more imagination there such as wholemeal bread and muesli being offered especially as the hotel is attempting to be a modern stylish affair. France does have some of the best wholemeal breads to be found but so few are offered at hotels. Why?

We did one day try out missing breakfast at the hotel and walked the short distance to the old harbour and found an excellent restaurant serving a set price cooked french breakfast for around €7. Great value.

The hotel does not have a car park and the road it is on is very narrow, but we found it possible to stop briefly to unload and later load up. There is a free 24/7 car park about 1/4 mile up the road towards the edge of town.

Generally we enjoyed our stay there and loved Honfleur. Possibly we would look for a hotel with a view next time although whether the staff would be as friendly is another matter.

Stayed here in May 2007 and hotel was excellent. Rooms were clean and only thing missing was a mirror. Breakfast was extra but was lovely. Very friendly people. Would stay there again.

This is a gorgeous hotel with an independent two bedroom cottage attached. Lovely french decor, spacious, cosy and in a perfect location - you couldn't ask for anything more!

Arrived at 3 pm to be told that our room (booked several weeks previously by phone) wouldn't be ready for another half an hour. This is not a sign of a well-run hotel in my experience. In the event another slightly better room was found for us - and we were not charged the extra, but I can hardly say that we were overwhelmed with the friendliness of Madame who insisted on speaking English to us though we addressed her in passable French.

The room was functional but relatively sparse - not a single picture on the wall. The bathroom was good but there was no hair-dryer.

There must be better options at the price in Honfleur

Honfleur itself is a beautiful town and definitely worth a week-end visit. As with all towns like this, parking is a nightmare (nowhere to park right by the hotel so have to walk back there with luggage).

The hotel itself is clearly quite newly decorated and the furnishings are modern and mostly pretty. The room we were given (100 EUR per night - double room with shower) was very small and so was the bathroom, but it was clean and comfortable. Just nothing special, which is a shame because the website gives a feeling of somewhere really luxurious and special.

The best thing about our week-end was eating at Sa.Qua.Na. One of the best restaurants I've been to - I would put it easily on a par with Andrew Fairlie at Gleneages, better than Le Gavroche and a million miles better than the two Michel starred restaurant in Reims (the name escapes me for now).

So go to Honfleur for the town and the food, but don't expect this hotel to be anything special.
